Zoo you were saying?

April 25, 2016

It has been years since we took a trip to the zoo. Not just our little “mini”ย local zoo but one about an hour from our house (with giraffes, elephants, exotic birds, flamingos and all kinds of CUTE MONKEY’s-monkey lover here) and boy was it needed.

I was so excited I had to wear my new-to-me leopard print heart shaped shorts along with leopard print cross body bag for some zoo spirit (thank God there were no leopards around at the zoo).

Now for the CUTE animals we saw and wish I could have taken home:

Our little trip was a blast. It wore the kids out with all the walking, but it was worth it and we proceeded to the college town nearby and got some local ice cream, coffee and enjoyed our time together.

If there is one thing I have been learning lately it is that time and life is short and I need to enjoy it as much as I can.

My kids will not always be this young, will not always see and enjoy the same things now as they will later. This past week was about trying my best to be present with them. I had my failing and victory moments, but it has been about choice. This meant choosing to leave my smart phone in the other room, less cleaning and less “blog” or social media work; But to be present.

I even made a choice to spend nap time away from social media and blogging and instead with God. I can’t tell you how rejuvenating it has been to sit outside after a hot shower, sipping lemon water and reading God’s word. WOW! I don’t want to miss these moments either, but to be present in His presence.

So tell me what are you needing to be present for more often?ย

What is your favorite animal at your zoo?

I try hard to be present in my kids life, but sometimes I have so many other demands that it is hard and I get really stressed out about it. I am hoping to have some great time with this summer when they are home form school, they only have a few more weeks of school left. I got us a zoo membership at the St. Louis zoo and I plan to take them every week and we will explore a different area of the zoo. You outfit is SO perfect for the zoo, I love those shorts and that hat is super cute on you!

This is such a great reminder that I need to take Jona to our zoo–he’s never been!! (He’s been to other zoos, just not ours.) I love the big cats the most. It looks like you all had such a fun time!

Love the animal print shorts! ๐Ÿ™‚ And, I also think it’s great you remind people to take a break from blogging, being online, working, etc. to get out and enjoy the day and relax.
