It has been years since we took a trip to the zoo. Not just our little “mini” local zoo but one about an hour from our house (with giraffes, elephants, exotic birds, flamingos and all kinds of CUTE MONKEY’s-monkey lover here) and boy was it needed.
Now for the CUTE animals we saw and wish I could have taken home:
Our little trip was a blast. It wore the kids out with all the walking, but it was worth it and we proceeded to the college town nearby and got some local ice cream, coffee and enjoyed our time together.
If there is one thing I have been learning lately it is that time and life is short and I need to enjoy it as much as I can.
My kids will not always be this young, will not always see and enjoy the same things now as they will later. This past week was about trying my best to be present with them. I had my failing and victory moments, but it has been about choice. This meant choosing to leave my smart phone in the other room, less cleaning and less “blog” or social media work; But to be present.
I even made a choice to spend nap time away from social media and blogging and instead with God. I can’t tell you how rejuvenating it has been to sit outside after a hot shower, sipping lemon water and reading God’s word. WOW! I don’t want to miss these moments either, but to be present in His presence.
So tell me what are you needing to be present for more often?
What is your favorite animal at your zoo?
