What to wear to a pumpkin farm and other fun stuff

Thank God it’s Monday, which means the hubby has off of work today and tomorrow which means we can both catch up on sleep. These past four or five days have been very rough, health wise and sleep wise in our family. I was sick for one day (headache, sneezing, coughing, overall icky feely) and on top of that my three toddlers were too, and hubby had to work so it was by the grace of God I made it alive. Then one of my toddlers had to go to the ER he got so sick and wouldn’t sleep. He would instead cry and cough with high tempatures so taking him to the hospital resulted in a diagnosis of croup, which resulted in a steriod (thank God) and instructions on pain relievers and reducers. While no one is really feeling a 100 percent better we have appreciated prayers from some of you that knew and follow me on Instagram.

God is good though, ” The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.  The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.  I said, “O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you.” Psalm 41:2-4

One highlight of our weekend (while we still felt awful) was attending a pumpkin patch and corn maze with my husbands family (and their church members, since his parents are pastors). We rather enjoyed ourselves (more on the fun stuff below).

Now on to the outfit. I have learned from years past to be prepared “dress wise” for a day of fall events such as the pumpkin farm as in the past I either dress for hot weather when in fact it is cooler or for been dressed in black on hot days. Taking my past experiences in mind I realized the best way to do it was to layer so I could remove articles of clothing as needed throughout the events and activities or as the weather permitted it.

To accomplish this I wore a simple black tee, layered it under a chambray top and added blanket scarf. Luckily the weather was cool enough yesterday where I didn’t have to remove anything but the blanket scarf.

I felt rather proud of my choice of clothing and layering as it worked the best for me this year. Plus my hubby thought it a rather sexy look, haha!

How do you dress for fall events?

Now on to some photos of fun stuff we did:

Oh goodness, all y’all sick at the same time! I can’t imagine; sounds rough. I’m glad to hear you all are feeling better, and that you were able to have some fun at the pumpkin farm. Loved seeing your little ones having a good time. Your outfit was so cute!! It sounds like the layering was a smart dressing decision, too. I love the way your chambray shirt and scarf look paired together, and those boots are so cute!! Hope you all continue to have improved health.

Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well! Looks like your family had a great time at the pumpkin patch though. I agree, layering is essential and I always run into the issue of being too hot or too cold. I also try not to wear my “good” boots since they always seem to get dirty. This year I accidentally stepped on a fallen branch and carved a nice scratch in my booties, I’ll never let that happen again!

I am so sorry all of you were so sick and especially for your son going to the ER. Hope you all feel much better soon. Good that you and husband have two days off to sleep, relax and get better.

You wore the perfect outfit for the pumpkin farm. I need a blanket scarf like that ASAP. Love the twins outfits too. Are they wearing back-packs? So so cute!

I hope everyone is on the mend Rachael. I think a blanket scarf is probably the most perfect thing to wear to a corn maze…especially paired with chambray!

We have yet to go to the pumpkin farm and I hope we still get it in!! Autumn did go apple picking with her class. It sounds like that ER visit couldn’t be prevented and the steroid was just what he needed. Glad you all are recovering! I love your outfit, so perfect for the pumpkin farm and that photo of you holding the little pumpkin is perfect, too!
