The Best 90’s print dress ever with Lularoe

August 9, 2016

I am a child of the 80’s and 90’s.  Growing up you would have found me in overall’s, corduroy dresses and solid colors, but secretly I wanted to dress like the girls in Saved by the Bell and Full House. Think poof sleeved shirts, embellished denim jackets with shoulder pads. You get the point. But there were those fun print tees or overalls that I loved seeing on Stephanie or DJ Tanner (of Full House) and somehow 26 years I get my first fun printed clothing item and it is a fun maxi dress from Lularoe.

After falling in love with the red Nicole dress from yesterdays post I knew I would love this Ana maxi dress. This Ana style dress is quite the statement.  While you might argue with me that the print is more tribal or geometric I think of it as 90’s. Besides my history and love for this new “ahem” 90’s print dress I want to praise the vibrant colors through out and point out how good looking it goes with other vibrant colors, noticeably in the accessories.  These nice statement bangles (that I won in a giveaway with Tiffany of Bright On a Budget) add character to the dress and are available through the Etsy shop KCK Bangles. Add an old teal purse, turned clutch to this arm candy and wedged sandals and this dress is as good as a party.

Aside from styling the dress it already holds a fun memory. Let me explain. I got it from Lularoe consultant Claire Marie and my husband was baffled by the length of it. He told me I needed to safety pin the bottom hem to keep the dress from getting dirty. I assured him I had some tricks up my sleeve (tying a side of it up, wrapping around to tuck into hair band). He held the dress up to his body.  At 6 foot 3 it was too long for him. I laughed at this gesture and dared him to wear it, but to his dismay he said he would probably trip on it and rip it so alas no hubby in a dress. Plus he said he wouldn’t dare wear a dress.

This 90’s print dress will definitely be making a come back on the blog. I can picture styling it with a nice floppy hat and some booties come fall season. What do you think?

How would you style this dress for Fall? Have you tried Lularoe and what do you love?

I love your dress and the 90s inspired print! Having also grown up in the 80s and 90s it’s bizarre to me that the styles of those two decades can now be considered retro! I hope you have a great rest of your week and thanks for hosting!

What a fun dress, Rachel! And this cotton candy pink is super flattering on you! I am so loving the clutch and wedge sandals, too. Your story of your husband cracked me up and reminded of a Halloween about 5 years ago when my husband and I dressed as each other, he wore one of my oversized dressed dresses and I wore his uniform! It was quite funny!

    Have a fabulous week!

Thanks so much for the feature Rachel, that’s so sweet of you!! That dress is so much fun–I love the print. You’re so right, it does have a 90s vibe–definitely channeling your inner DJ Tanner, haha 😉 Love how you knotted the bottom too.

  • jodie filogomo August 9, 2016 at 9:24 am

I have to admit that the print does take me back to the 90’s (I’d even say late 80’s) because I had a pair of jeans almost this same color/print in college!!
And as much as this dress looks fab on you—it would be a stitch to see it on your husband!! 🙂

I had a good chuckle at the thought of your hubby trying the dress! What fun, summery colours the dress has and the teal bag is perfect with it as it really brings out the teal in the dress.

  • rosie August 9, 2016 at 2:58 pm

omg this literally reminds me of the opening song of saved by the bell when they do all those colorful designs (I hope you know what I am talking about) perfect 90s look!

  • Sheela Goh August 10, 2016 at 2:49 pm

Hahaha your husband is a funny guy 🙂 I just did that very same knot tie thing this morning, in a camo dress that was much too long for me. But then again, at 5 feet zero, most things are decidedly too long for my frame. I admit, it was a bit of a surprise to see you in such bright candy colours, Rachel, but they suit you. They really do xoxo

  • Roxanne August 10, 2016 at 11:13 pm

The print on this dress is AH-MAZING! The dress matches your clutch perfectly, too. I remember going to school wearing those tickle me’s with all the little things dangling off the sweaters. Haha we loved those!
