Gasp! I’m in a swimsuit + Memorial Day sales

May 30, 2016

Happy Memorial Day! Hopefully you are indulging in some R&R time, cookouts, swimming, shopping and a day off work (hopefully). We have had our fill of swimming at the lake and are spending today (Monday as you are reading this) at my cousins pool party. There is plenty of swimming to be had which is why you may notice the title of this post, but you have to read on to gather more of what I mean and some sales of course.

I have never felt confident about my body in a bathing suit, especially after having children. but rather I learned that I had the “wrong” swimsuit. I have been wearing the same swimsuits for years now and been hiding them behind a sun dress while in the water. I am one of those ladies that hate swimsuit shopping; however recently I made my mind up that I NEEDED a different swimsuit or tankini top.

I took a recent trip to Target and tried on a few tankini tops (that happened to be on sale) and then decided on this black one (similar) with white trim as it was simple and just what this body was calling for. Β Better yet it was on clearance for $13. So in the cart it went and became first worn this past Saturday paired with an old trusty pair of bottoms I scored on clearance at Marshalls a few years back.

Because I am slowly coming out of “swimsuit” hiding I didn’t want to fully flaunt my body in a swimsuit (especially online) but instead I wanted to show you how I wore and styled my swimsuit while outside of the water. As you can see an added kimono and straw hat with black flip flops did the trick and even added a sense of confidence.

This was the perfect swimsuit to wear in the lake with my husband and children, on a boat ride and while enjoying the simple moments of the entering of Summer.

Now for some Memorial day sales that last til today from my favorite stores:

Target– save 30% on select regular priced men’s, women’s and kids clothing, shoes and accessories with promo code MEMDAY30, offer online good online through 5/30/2016.

Old Navy– 50% off all tees, tanks, swim & shorts (some exclusions apply) but good in store and online through 5/30/2016.

How are you spending your memorial day? How do you feel in a bathing suit? What sales are you doing?

I really need to go swimsuit shopping soon, our vacation is coming up! I love how you styled your swimsuit out of the water… I have a cover up, just need a new hat (once I figure out a swimsuit). I’ve tried Target swimsuits in the past, but no luck… I usually get mine at Macy’s or Victoria Secret. I did see some cute ones at Target the other day, though!

Take your time until you are fully confident. But I tell you, you are gorgeous in that swimsuit! I agree with you on the fact that it really matters the type of swimsuit you wear whether it will flatter your body or not. Good choice on that swimsuit! πŸ™‚

Loving how you styled the swimsuit with the kimono and the hat. I love to find a good coverup with swimsuits as well, since I am still never 100 percent confident in wearing one! I totally understand where you are coming from on being hesitant to post about it online, but you look beautiful! Hope you are having a wonderful holiday weekend!

Very cute! There are few women comfortable in a bathing suit, myself included. But how liberating to just not worry about what others think and be content with what we cannot change. (After a few pregnancies, I’m the proud bearer of stretch marks, varicose veins and other body changes. Good thing I love my boys. ?). I love your kimono and may start looking for one too!

Looking fabulous, Dear! I applaud you! I would actually like to do a bathing suit post showing hey, this is middle age … deal with it! πŸ˜‰ But … since I teach high school I have a nightmare of my students finding the pics and me never hearing the end of it. ;P

    Anyway, looking great!
