Moms and outfit shots

July 15, 2015

I love learning how different mother fashionistas take outfit photos of themselves while their children are around, don’t you? There are some new mamas out there that I follow that either include their babies in the shots as a mother and daughter/son type of photo shoot, or there are the mamas that have their babies and kids off to the side entertaining themselves or napping while the tripod and clicker are set up and at it or the hubby is taking the shots. Still there are some bloggers that don’t reveal their secret but you know they are a mommy but take gorgeous outfit shots.

While I believe my best photo shoots are alone with my hubby (when we go on dates) this is not very often so in order to get outfit photo shots for my blog the kids are often times around and so today I am going to reveal to you how my hubby manages to take photos of me while we have our kids near by.

Here is a list of what we do if photos are taken outside and in the public areas/home:

– shoot photos outside our house during nap time
-shoot photos outside of department stores while kids are contained in a grocery cart
– kids are running around near by (these end up the worst shots as the kids are not contained so the photos are normally rushed and blurred with no real focus)
– my husband and I will leave our kids in the van with the windows or doors open and we are but 2 to 3 feet away from the van but watching them while we shoot.
– have family members watch the children for a few minutes if we happen to have friends near by.
-hubby watches kids while family members we are visiting take photos, etc.

For todays particular post, the twins are contained in a grocery cart and Nevaeh and Alexander are running around. You can obviously see them in these photos haha! keeping it real!

See what did I tell ya! Photobomb moment!

Great ideas! I have had such a hard time figuring out how I was going to do a photo shoot with Raylan. Hopefully now it won’t be so hard.

My husband takes all of my photos; but we only have to worry about managing Rosie (our pup). Good for you for having a routine down with the kids! Also, LOVE the bag!

Love hearing how you take your photo’s. I have no kiddo’s yet but I did have a dog when I first started blogging. Which she would hop in the photo’s here and there. I love the lace detail on your top.

I don’t have little kids, so I don’t have this issue. I do enjoy Amber Fillerup Clark’s blog a lot…she is absolute perfection integrating her little boy into her shots. But her hubby doesn’t work outside the home, so he is available all day to just take photos of them. When my older daughter comes home to visit or I go visit her, we love to do mother/daughter photo shoots. I love your top!

My kids are 6 and 9 and it is still not easy. We usually take my photos out in the backyard, but sometimes my daughter will pop in the photo! Love your little photo bomber!

I always wondered how people with kids did it! Sounds like it gets tricky but you make it look easy! Love your top.

It is such an ordeal to get any quality photos with the littles around! Good gravy! Sometimes, I get so frustrated, I just tell my husband, “That will work” before I’ve even seen any of the shots. We try to include them once a week in mommy-and-me pictures, but some weeks it is so difficult to do that, too. If one is in a good mood, the other is cranky, etc.

You have some great tips for keeping the kids corralled + safe while you shoot!

I don’t have children, but these are definitely great tips. You don’t really think about the trouble it takes to do an outfit post until you actually do it…so much work!

I love seeing this little glimpse into how it goes down for photo shoots! My husband also takes my pictures. Lately I’ve been including my son in a few of my photo shoots, which has been fun. When I don’t have him in the shots, during the summer we can take pictures after he goes to bed (typically around 7:30pm) since it’s still light out. Otherwise, we use nap time on the weekends, or we’ll even step right outside if we know it’s going to be quick. We have a lot of windows and I can see him from where we’re shooting. But it can be interesting sometimes! 🙂

My son is 7 and is at the stage of photobombs too. I wished I could go to different locations to take photos but there’s just no way so we end up taking mu pics early in the morning while my son is brushing his teeth and we are near our front door.

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you Thursday.
