Poncho-fringe-white-plum-boutique-hat

My hubby and I took these photos on a date night, in front of a high school drive and what do you know there were cars coming in and out and drivers and passengers watching us…yep typical life of a fashion blogger, at least I wasn’t alone with my tripod as I still haven’t mastered it.

Any tips with a tripod?

This week has been a busy one so far and often times I just have to remind myself to not stress, but life happens. So this post is short and sweet today, however I did want to mention some of my new favorite wardrobe items.

maroon-hat-mint-julep-boutique-poncho

This hat is the loveliest fall complimentary accessory and I was thrilled to have recently purchased it from Mint Julep Boutique (in combination with some credit from a giveaway I won thanks to Keisha of Queen Life Blog, thanks girly!) so this hat ended up being a little under $10 shipping included out of pocket, score!

black-white-aztec-poncho-maroon-hat

The boots I received are from Target and are compliments of Brandzaffair a site I use to shop easily for items from stores I love. I couldn’t decide if I wanted boots from Nordstrom, Forever 21 or Target so while clicking on each store through Brandzaffair I went with my instincts and of course choose Target to find these lovelies as I knew the sizing of Targets shoes better than the other stores and choose an 8 when in reality I am a 7. These fit like a charm and I CAN’T stop wearing them.

I paired these new additions with my poncho that I got last year, leggings and ifChic tote and felt good to go for fall weather that finally is here.

What new additions have you added to your wardrobe?

Lace shirts, sea shells + Oakleigh Rose Style Giveaway & Bloggers Who Have Inspired me link up

May 19, 2015

Thank you everyone for the lovely Birthday wishes in my 30th Birthday post yesterday (read Here).  I had a good one and am just feeling the love all around. God has truly blessed me with such a wonderful blogging community, family and friends and I couldn’t ask for more. You guys or gals are awesome.
IMG_1904

I have been loving all things lace lately and have actually added quite a bit of lace detailed items to my wardrobe this spring, from my white Birthday dress I wore for yesterdays post here, to todays lace number that I can’t wait to show you.

laceshirt2

Recently I won a gift card from Jacqueline to Oakleigh Rose Style Boutique where I recently purchased two lovely lace detailed tops. Today I am showing you two of them together and tomorrow I will show you how I styled just one of them. I am wearing a lovely chiffon blouse called Island Chiffon Top (from the Curvy section). This lovely chiffon top is AMAZING! The front top and sleeves show just the right amount of lace and adds an elegant touch. The material is strong and simply amazing to touch. I counted five compliments on this lovely chiffon blouse alone from people at my church. Underneath this lovely chiffon top is this a lovely camisole with lace scalloped detailing at the bottom trim that you was just as comfortable to wear and the material is soft. (see the exact camisole here).

I choose to pair this lovely blouse and camisole with skinny blue jeans cuffed at the ankles and an older pair of cognac flip flops for a more laid back look. I felt like I was on vacation at the beach in this get up so I choose to pair it further with anchor and pearl long earrings and my new beach shimmery inspired charm bracelet from My Arm Charms for an added sea and vacation look. The bracelet is even discounted for $9.99 too so you NEED to check it out because I love it.

seashellbracelet

This new bracelet is just adorable with real sea shells as charms, a mix of pearls and gold sea stars with inlaid pearls. Now what could say beach and vacation more than that, this bracelet is a “charm.”

I have enjoyed shopping with Oakleigh Rose Style boutique and have even been in back in forth communication with the co-owner Maeghan whom has been so kind to offer one of my readers a $25 gift card to their boutique. Not only has her offer been so kind, but I have enjoyed Maeghans genuine passion for her customers and blog partners alike. Thanks Maeghan for this collaboration! This giveaway is open to US, Canada and UK as these are where the Oakleigh Rose Style Boutique ships; however if the winner is outside the US they will be charged $10 for shipping that can’t come out of the coupon code. Please follow the Rafflecopter prompts below to enter. The more you enter the better your chances are of winning. Goodluck!

Now on to the featured five from last week and link up:
irenefloralskirtIrene linked up a lovely skirt that she styled with a cute edgy black crop top and black high heeled sandals. While her skirt is several years old I just loved how she pulled it out to style it for the blogsphere. I have “known” Irene since I first started blogging and I love her classy, retro and feminine style. You can check out this post here.
amyleather

Amy linked up an edgy but fun mothers day outfit. She inspired me to think outside of the box on holidays such as mothers day. When I think of mothers day I think of moms dressing in floral or feminine pieces but Amy choose to add some edge to her outfit wearing pleather and all black to church and to celebrate mothers day in all black style. You can find out more of how her mothers day went and the deal she got on her skirt here. sherrybridge   Sherry linked up a great statement dress that she has obviously fallen in love with from her recent Gwyniee Bee (or sizes 10-32 clothing box set subscription). Like Stichfix this is a service you can subscribe to and get up to 3 items in a box that if you are curvy like me you can try for a month or buy and return what you don’t want. I may have to try this. See the post here. 9thingsiwillneverblog I just loved Andrea’s post on 9 things she would never blog about. I loved some of the witty humor in this post as well as the justifications and heartfelt reasons why somethings are better left unsaid or unknown. You can see what those 9 things are here. Spouse Della posted a great post that serves as a reminder to all of us who are married on some tips to remembering and spending time with our spouses. I loved gathering a few ideas and being reminded of how important our partner in marriage really is in our lives and how we take that for granted sometimes. You can read her tips here. Now it is your turn, just follow the link up rules below: 1). Please link up recent posts and include the link up button or post this URL link back on your blog. Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma

December 21, 2014

DSC01995
I normally have a hard time coming up with the first few sentences and introduction to my blog (fact!). Sometimes the title is the challenging part, but today all I can think about is Clark Kent and Velma. You must be asking yourself why? and maybe its because these two icons are not only awesome, smart and dorky but wear glasses, and I just adore them as icons.
Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma, but today, you are getting your first glimpse of me in glasses here on the blog. Fact, I am near sighted but cannot, I repeat CANNOT see ANYTHING but blurred visions far away, so I normally wear prescription glasses. A few months ago I made a visit to my eye doctor and purchased not only some contacts (which I normally wear) but some glasses, and I actually like them and learned a bit about how face and eye shape can either make or break the way glasses will look on you, so at that appointment I was careful to select squared shaped ones, with the help of the sales attendant. I came away with some nice ones.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by a Global Online optical store called Firmoo.com to select a pair of glasses to review. Taking my knowledge from my appointment a few months back I carefully selected the ones that you see pictured on me.
DSC01989

DSC01991

I choose this pair here because I wanted something dark with some brown tones to go with my hair color, and I liked how the shape was similar to my previous bought glasses. On the Firmoo.com site there were options to select and enter prescription numbers and PD (pupil distance) numbers for a more accurate lenses clarity. I was lucky to get the prescription numbers from my doctors office but could not get the PD from them so instead I had to have my hubby take a mm ruler and measure this. To measure the PD my hubby had me look straight ahead, and taking the mm ruler to the bridge of my nose he measured the pupil (black dot part of the eye) of my left eye to the right pupil. He must have taken 5 to 6 measurements to be sure it was accurate for me to record on the website before ordering my glasses. Once measurements and prescription was in on the site my glasses were ordered and check this- sent to me within less than a week.
DSC01987

I was highly satisfied with my glasses when they came in. These glasses came in faster than my doctors office glasses (which needed to be specifically ordered and shipped to my doctors office, and took almost 2 weeks) so that says a lot about how I feel about Firmoo’s quick shipment. The glasses prescription is perfect and aligned with what I needed. Not only that but they are cute, different in style from my other pair and just wonderful in power.

DSC02005

I choose to style my glasses with a oversize sweater, and distressed flared jeans for a look of comfort.
DSC02003
The sweater is actually my hubbies, and let me tell you it was all I needed on a cold day like the other day as it was warm enough against the cold winter air to make me feel like I was curled up near the fireplace with a hot cup of coffee. Not only was it so warm (no coat needed) but I felt great in it. My hubby actually thought I looked sexy in his shirt, which is a GREAT thing too.

DSC01996

I had the pleasure of wearing this outfit and glasses out to see the movie “The Hobbit” in theaters with my hubby, and walk around his college campus where these pictures were taken.
DSC01997
DSC02004

Besides our date and the glasses there were many more goodies that came in with my glasses, such as a glasses case, drawstring bag for the case, glassed repair kit with screws and cleaning cloth. I didn’t receive this luxury with my glasses from the eye doctors.

DSC02010
DSC02012

While I might have a hard time coming up with a great catchy blog introduction, I might add that I can end with saying that I am highly satisfied with the service and my glasses from Firmoo.com, my hubbies sweater and our date. Nothing on Clark Kent and Velma here.

Do you wear glasses? What shaped glasses do you wear or would like to try? Avaitar? Round? Firmoo.com has a selection and shapes for everyone.

Outfit Details: Glasses (c/o Firmoo.com)//Sweater: hubbies from Old Navy// Pants: gift from a friend//Boots:Kensie Wear (gift)//Necklace: old, gift.

Ring in a 5 year wedding anniversary

December 8, 2014

DSC01930
I love a good festive style outfit around the Christmas season and this one hits the spot and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share it with you. I recently scored this lovely faux fur vest from Target on sale, with a giftcard gifted from Laura of @walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com (thank you hun) and this lovely sweater dress from Old Navy underneath a favorite old Limited skirt. In truth these items are lovely and had been on my wish list for awhile, however I styled the outfit around the beautiful ring you see on my ring finger.
DSC01931

I was honored and VERY excited when Anjolee Jewelry contacted me about wearing and styling one of their rings. My 5 year wedding anniversary is coming up in July and it just so happened they had a selection of anniversary rings for me to pick from and so I went with the Eternity band.
DSC01927
I was excited to receive my ring and of course wear it. Here I am wearing the ring alone but lately I have worn it in between my wedding ring and engagement ring for extra glimmer and elegance.
DSC01922
DSC01926

Anjolee.com features classy jewelry such as diamonds and more. Upon visiting their anniversary rings (or any type of ring for that matter) you will note that you can choose the type of total carat weight, stone shape and setting type. There are options to have a vintage styled ring, classic,
eternity or gems along with diamonds.
DSC01924
DSC01929

With my 5th wedding anniversary coming up this July, the rest of the jewelry you see worn was worn on my wedding day. I thought it only appropriate and special to bring it out to wear with my new eternity band ring and festive outfit for an extra charm.
DSC01921
Lately I have worn the eternity ring in between my wedding band and engagement ring as seen in this photo.

DSC01932
The ring came in a lovely box that I couldn’t pass up showing you:

I don’t know yet what is in store for our 5 year wedding anniversary or what we will do to celebrate, but I know I have the perfect ring to wear and remind me of this special occasion, thank you Anjolee for this gift*.

*This post is a sponsored post from Anjolee.com. A sample ring (with CZs)was sent in exchange for a review along with compensation but all opinions are 100% mine alone.

Today is the last day to enter the giveaway to win a $25 gift card to Target, $25 gift card to Groopdealz.com and more. Enter the link below and goodluck!
