January 25, 2016

Happy Monday everyone! Today I have Sarah of Bows and Clothes taking over my blog for the day. I love this young ladies faith sharing, style and have enjoyed getting to know her this past year and I am sure you would love to get to meet her as well. Trying Something New: Blush and Burgundy

January 11, 2016

Today I am glad to have my good blogging friend Becky of bybmg blog as my guest poster and I must say I LOVE her out of comfort zone outfit here and how she made it work (not to mention affordable). Check it out below and don’t forget to leave a comment or visit her blog and say “hi” thanks Becky for being here today!

Hi, I’m Becky, and I blog over at bybmg. I’m totally outnumbered in my house with my husband, Russ, and our three boys. I try to stay fashionable and creative while keeping up with them and teaching at our local middle school.
I would love to connect with you on my blogInstagramPinterestTwitter, and Facebook!

Thanks so much, Rachel, for allowing me to guest post today!

Being in the fashion blogger world, it’s always so fun to see what combinations people come up with for outfits. Blush and burgundy is a combination that intrigued me, but I wasn’t sure where to start. I own two burgundy cardigans, but that’s about it.

Link up & Guest Post: 3 Fashion “Rules” to live by when choosing outfits

October 27, 2015

Today I am honored to introduce to you my new found blogging buddy and hopefully future graphic designer for this here little space, Haley of Stylish Muse. She is a fashion blogger that I love to watch blossom and make her graphic design business and love for the Lord and new hubby grew. I can’t wait for you to read what she has to offer as far as fashion tips that she follows and how you can better get to know her.

Hey Garay Treasures readers! I’m Haley and blog over at Stylish Muse, which is a fashion + lifestyle blog as well! I have been following Rachel’s blog for almost a year now and I am so excited to meet some of her readers. Please stop by so we can connect, just make sure to comment on one of my posts with your link so I can go visit your blog! I love meeting + following new bloggers.

Fashion to me is finding little treasures at thrift stores that you can’t take your eyeballs off of. I wanted to share three fashion “rules” that I tend to live by when choosing my outfits. I believe the main rule of fashion is to never stop creating your own unique rules. Every one has such an incredible style that says something about their personality, which is one of my favorite things about styling!

1. Break out of your pattern comfort zone.

Okay so be a little crazy. Don’t just wear stripes, wear dots and stripes. Think about all the different patterns that may mix well and then go with it! The best way to find out which patterns go together is having a pile of patterned clothing to the right of you and a mirror in front of you. Go crazy and play model for half an hour, learning about how to wear the clothes that are already in your closet even better.

2. Sometimes not following the rules is totally okay

Oops. I wore white after labor day. Twice. But hey I wanted to wear white and so I did it and I got tons of compliments. Just because there is a rule doesn’t mean you have to follow it in the fashion world. I have plenty of friends that refuse to wear white religiously after the first week of September but I simply decide to wear whatever I want, white or not.

3. Adding bold pops of color throughout your outfits is something fun and exciting.

These shoes are my favorite because what a fantastic way to include that bold pop that I want. Surprisingly, they are super comfortable and I only got them for $2 at Goodwill (obsessed with that place).

Hi I’m Haley! I run a fashion blog called Stylish Muse and tend to like girly things. I have as many shades of lipstick as I do HTML videos saved on YouTube. Hi! This is Carrie from over at Curly Crafty Mom and today I am guest posting on Garay Treasures for Rachel. Fall is quickly approaching and I have started to think about adding some pieces to my fall wardrobe. It is always fun to reevaluate your closet this time of year and to figure out a few new statement pieces to add.

For this outfit collage, I started with a blardigan in a crisp fall color. Then, I added that gorgeous beaded tank from J. Crew. The beads on it are such lovely colors and I pulled out the teal color and decided to use it for the crossbody bag, necklace and you’ll see the wooden watch has a teal face. Even though it is almost fall, I like to pop a little color into the browns, oranges, warm reds, yellows and caramels you usually see surface during the fall season.

To add a little playfulness to this outfit, I added a colorful tassel bracelet and the yellows and teal colors work with the colors of the beads on the tank.

I have been wanting a pair of Karen Walker sunnies forever, so of course… I added those and the pair I chose would really go with about any outfit and/or any season.

I also added these Toms Desert Wedge Booties, because they are super cute and I’ve been wanting a pair for a couple of years now. They would go great with destructed skinnies with a little flare (just a little!), so of course you’ll see a nice pair from the Gap… because, we all know that the Gap has well-fitting jeans down!

The wooden watch by Jord is made with zebra wood and has a turquoise face. I really like the natural element and color that the wood gives to the outfit.

AND, top it all off with a nice wool hat and you have a super dandy fall outfit. And, the blardigan is great as a layer for you to remove and tie around your waist or hang over your shoulder when it warms up midday.

And, just a little about me before you go about your day (just in case you want to stop by my blog (link HERE), I’d LOVE to have you!).

I am a DIY/crafting blogger with a little bit of fashion mixed in. I am a Christian, wife to my first kiss and a mother to a six and nine year old! I believe life is about not being afraid to fulfill your dreams… and, I really do believe that dreams can come to true if you believe they will! I am a seven time half marathon finisher and a marathon wanna-be, I believe in true love, enjoy pinot noir and cherry limeades, romantic dates with my husband, one on one time with my kids, reading, travel, anything Paris, Disney, and fun and carefree days with my family. Blogging is a creative outlet for me and is where I share my creativity and love for fashion. I hope you will stop by and introduce yourself! And, thank you Rachel for having me as a guest poster!
Also, be sure to stop by on Thursdays at 12:00 a.m. central time for Thursday Fashion Files, I would love to see your current looks!

Tiffany and Styling the Neon trend

August 3, 2015
Am I the only one that’s having a love affair with neons this summer?  No? I didn’t think so. Neons are so fun to incorporate into outfits, especially a peachy neon shade like the shirt I’m wearing. No matter what shade of neon you’re wearing, however, I think that they always pair perfectly with the most classic of color palettes–black and white (with a little leopard mixed in).
Here, I’ve paired my neon shirt with black shorts, which really allows my shirt to shine.  I chose my black and white Kendra Scott necklace in black and white to anchor the outfit and tie in the black shorts.  For shoes, I went with a neutral gold pair so that they weren’t competing for attention with the rest of the outfit.  And I think we all can agree that leopard goes with just about anything, right?:)

Shirt: Old Navy (similar–size down at least 1 size)
Shorts: Old Navy
Necklace: Kendra Scott via Clothes Mentor Lexington (sold out online)
Earrings: Kate Spade (price increase:( there were $19 + 25% off when I bought them)
Sandals: Lilly Pulitzer (similarsimilar but less expensive)
Clutch: Forever 21 via Instagram friend (sold out)
As for my hair, I decided to try out a half-bun, which, according to Instagram, is all the rage right now.  I tried to give some different angles to show it off, because I think it’s a fun hairstyle and a great way to get your hair out of your face on a humid day.  Let me tell you, Kentucky has been HOT.
As for my outfit, I’m all about saving money.  My Old Navy tee and Kate Spade earrings were on super clearance, my Kendra Scott necklace is from my favorite thrift store (seriously only a fraction of retail price), and my sweet leopard clutch was sourced from Instagram. I love mixing high-end and low-end pieces for my own look.
Thanks, Rachel, for inviting me to guest post!

***Thank you Tiffany for covering a topic that I am sure many fashionistas will get tips from or would be inspired to style neon in a similiar fashion. I hope you will all check out Tiffany’s blog. Ada on Dressing down a (blue) dress

July 31, 2015

Hello Garay Treasures Readers. My Name is Ada and I blog over at Elegance and Mommyhood. I (mostly) am a stay-at-home mom to my 2.5-year old daughter Vivian. My blog is about my personal style and I share some of my life as well: such as vacations, what I have been up to and of course mommy hood. Vivian does a lot of Mommy+Me Style Posts with me, as well. I am so happy to be here for Rachel today while she is enjoying Summer Vacation with her beautiful family.

Anyone who knows me or follows my blog, is aware of my love for Dresses. I own over a hundred. A lot of them are on the dressier side, though. But as a busy mom of a toddler who is always running around and keeping me on my toes, I want most of my dresses to do double-duty. So, often, I dress down some of my nicer dresses. This is good, because as a bargain shopper, I am all about stretching my closet and remixing my pieces, too. Today I am showing you a recent outfit I wore where I dressed down my Fit+Flare Royal Blue Dress. This Silky Dress purchased last Summer is a little more suited for a date night, a shower or a fun Summer cocktail party with the nice zipper-front detail. But adding Little Jelly Sandals to it and some Casual Everyday Colorful Bracelets, I certainly dressed it down. I did keep it a little fancy and girly still by adding two cocktail rings (though they are not fancy/evening out kind), red lipstick and a neon statement necklace. Like in a lot of my posts, I included little Vivian here today. She is also wearing a Blue Dress. Hers is Navy with Polka Dots. She – like Mommy – owns a lot of dresses. =) So, how would you dress down a Fancy Dress or a Silky Dress? Linked below I found many similar pretty options like my dress. If you stop by my blog today, you will see how I dressed down a LBD. Thank you for reading!

Multi-Colored, Neon, Cluster, Statement Necklace: A Local Accessories Boutique (gorgeous option by Bauble Bar, my favorite), (fun bib option, best deal, love this), (fun cluster option).
Stretchy Beaded Bracelet w/ Silver+Royal Blue Crystals: Random Street Vendor (similar by Nine West, best deal, love this), (multi-stranded option by WHBM, great deal, my favorite), (similar gorgeous option, Splurge).
Hunter Green Stretchy Beaded Bracelet: Forever 21.
Silver-Tone Tiny Cuff w/ 1 Floaty Coral Beads: Street Vendor.
Light Coral+Pave Abstract-Shaped Ring: A Local Boutique (New).
Black Floral, Wayfarer Sunglasses: Random Street Vendor for 2$! (New) (similar Wayfarer, best deal), (retro option by Chic Nova, love these), (similar Wayfarer in pink floral, love these).
Vivian’s Navy Polka Dot Dress: Carter’s.
Here is how I have dressed up my Royal Blue Fit+Flare Dress before, for a Dinner Date.
Here is another Bright Summer Dressy Dress I dressed down, this Summer.
Thank you Rachel for having me today. You can find me or follow me via Bloglovin or Pinterest.
Have a Great Weekend!

***Thank you Ada for covering the blog today, I appreciate your tips and style for dressing down and up a lovely dress. I hope you will come back Monday as Tiffany of Bright On A Budget will be guest posting and as always Tuesday is “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” link up and Wednesday will be “How I Style It” link up with the theme of patterns with Friday being another guest post covered by Carrie of curlycraftymom. Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you will check Ada’s blog out. Have you entered the $60 Target giftcard giveaway yet? If not you can do so here.

Featured Blogger Moment: Keri

November 5, 2014

Today I am thrilled to introduce to you a blogger named Keri whom I just consider such an uplifting, encouraging and mentoring partner in the blogging world. Whenever I seem to go through some personal issues or struggles as a mom sometimes her posts just encourage me and seem to be what God wanted me to read and know in that moment when I know I have needed guidance or Him the most. Keri also blogs about children’s theme lesson plans and crafts to all things family orientated. I am just excited for what she is going to share with you today. Without further adieu here is Keri.</p

Hello, my name is Keri and I share over at Living In This Season. I was so excited when Rachel asked me to share a little with you all. It has been such a joy meeting Rachel and getting to know her more.
I am the wife to my husband of 9 years and mama to 3 little ones, ages 5, 2, and 5 months. Blogging is a way that I can share with others as we each go through different seasons of life. When we all are encouraging and uplifting one another, life’s trials can be lightened.
1). For anyone that happens upon your blog what do you hope they take away from it? What encouragement would you give?
I hope and pray they will leave encouraged and excited about life. Trust me when I say, my life is not all cute kid’s crafts and organized spaces. Life is messy, friends, isn’t it? The unexpected happens… things do not always go as we plan. I hope my readers leave knowing that they are not alone and perhaps inspired… whether that be to go create a project, read with your little one, or go on a date with your husband. So often, we go through the rough seasons of life and think “I am all alone.” But I am here to tell you that you are NOT alone! I recently started a series called A Letter To… which is a place where others will come in and share encouragement about a different season of life. I am hoping and praying this can be a way for us to build community and grow together.
2). As a mother of multiple children how would you describe balancing time with each child? Together? Any suggestions or tips?
Balance… this word is constantly whirling through my mind. One main thing I try to keep in mind is to give myself grace. I could waste all day sitting here thinking how my toddler doesn’t get as much attention now that we have a baby, but you know what that is pointless! He is very much loved and has special moments. One thing we try to do is go on dates with the kids. Our dates are nothing fancy. Sometimes, I will take one of the boys with me to run errands and we will get a special treat. The other boy stays with my husband and baby and he will do a special activity or game with them. Once my daughter is older, we will incorporate this with her too. We are trying to build in a sense of love and family… we are big on having family nights!
3). As a former preschool teacher what are some things you brought from the classroom environment into the home as a stay at home mom? Creativity wise or more?
I love crafts. I am that mom who will be doing a ton of Turkey crafts this November, because I love it! If it stresses you out, that is fine, do something else with your kids. But for me, it is something I love and enjoy to do with my kids. Also, I am a huge fan of having theme weeks. Honestly, we are still figuring out a new routine with my oldest in school and having a baby, but I am working on having simple activities with my toddler throughout the week.
4). Describe your personality in one word and why?
Encouraging. I really have such a desire to encourage others. Whether it is my husband, my kids, my family, friends, through the blogging world. I love to bring a little joy to others’ lives.
5). Could you tell us more about your new etsy shop and why you create what you do?
I have always loved being crafty. Pretty much all of our home decor has been inspired from a Pinterest project. I find myself seeing something in a store and saying why would I buy that? I bet I could figure out how to make this. HAHA! (Which sometimes ends in an epic fail!). But back to the Etsy Shop. Friends and family have been telling me over the years to open one, but I was not sure. It is kind of nerve-wracking stepping out there and promoting your stuff. But I did it, and am loving it! I sell a little bit of a variety (kind of like my blog, just a variety). So far I have holiday banners, birthday banners, baby mobiles, and a thankful tree in the shop. The Thankful Tree has been my biggest seller so far- which I love! I love seeing others inspired to do this activity with their family and helping them to do so.
6). Finally, how can readers be in contact with you?
I love connecting with others and would love to connect. Feel free to contact me at kerisnyder(at)gmail(dot)com or through social media.

Guest Post from Iris, of Love Iris

July 8, 2014

Follow on Bloglovin

Hello Everyone,

As you are reading this post I am still on vacation at Massanutten, swimming, enjoying friends and my little family and taking naps.  Today, I want to introduce you to Iris, of Love, Iris whom is my guest on the blog today. Iris has been one of my first followers and so I couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce her to you. Many of you know I love giveaways and anything cute and meeting other bloggers and Iris’ fashion and life style blog is all of those and more. I have enjoyed getting to know and be there for Iris through good and frustrating times. She is a sweetheart. She will be sharing her love for her striped skirt and many ways in which she has worn it, so please take a moment and read her post and check out her blog and other medias. Thank you Iris for taking over today!

Hi everyone, I’m Iris from Love, Iris. I have been addicted to this skirt since I bought it. I have developed quite a huge collection of different ways of styling this skirt; you can style it for all the four season and still be stylish! Fashion has been a huge passion of mine, I have always loved mixing outfit’s together, or just trying to make anything be dressy for going on dates and such.

Being a personal style and fashion blogger, I always think it’s important to make sure the outfit fits well on me, and then I try it on my friends that are shorter then me and tell people about how it fit’s on a girl that’s 5″6 and another girl that’s 5″2. I’m not sure what the name of my “style” would be; I think of it as dressy, causal and classy and sometimes I will pop in with a little bit of sexy. One thing I can never be without though is this classic piece of a skirt, so I have listed 4 different way’s to wear this adorable a line A Line Skirt.

This first one I love, because mixing patterns is always a plus and has it’s perks. It can be a little wild at first, but hey who cares if you are being all cute and everything right? The outfit I’m wearing is perfect for the summer just take off the scarf or keep it on it’s your choice. I love adding a vibrant pop to an outfit–makes it more POPPIN’!
This one I absolutely love for a fall day. It’s comfy yet warm for Utah weather, if your colder I would suggest to put some boots on. I have chosen to add some cute heels that are very cute but defintly not too crazy. I do own some crazy heels, but these ones are more relaxed for the outfit. I love wearing really dark thick tight’s because they make the outfit stand out against my skin tone.

Next, I added some boots and a pink leather jacket to the skirt. I’m obsessed with this jacket as well as the skirt. I took this photo during the winter winter time in January, probably doesn’t look like it, but it is. It was pretty cold when I took them. I have always loved scarves, even in the summer too–I know it’s pretty crazy for summer weather but if you find a perfect scarf that isn’t too heavy you’ll be fine. I’ve worn them in 100+ degree weather and still was okay. I wish everywhere had this store where I got these boots from. They have embellishments on the side but you can’t see it, but if you go to my blog you can definitely look at the boots more closer! If your ever in Utah, hit up the store called “Asian City” it’s in West Jordan, they have the cutest items there for really cheap but great quality. I work as a physical therapy assistant and have worn these babies working and lifting and they still look brand new and they were only $20! How great it that!

Finally, this one is a favorite outfit of mine. Yes I keep saying I’m obsessed with all these outfit’s but I love this monochrome type of look. I love a simple black and white outfit like this one. Plus it’s not to extravagant at all! I added these super cute ankle boots to make it a little bit more thrilling and make the outfit more appealing instead of just a black and white outfit. I think this outfit has more of an edge to it being all monochrome and all.

Thanks for letting me write on your blog today Rachel! Don’t forget to stop by my site (Love, Iris) and see more outfits with this darling skirt or any outfit indeed.

Don’t forget to follow my vacation through instagram here (and follow <3).
