$10 Budget at Target and what I bought

December 21, 2015

Today I have joined my good friend Becky and a few other bloggers for a blog hop where we buy “fun” or “splurge” items at Target with a budget of $10 for the month of December (see my November $10 Budget at Target post here). This does not include Starbucks, groceries needed or meals but rather items we consider fun or perhaps had on our wishlists.

High Five for Friday 8/14

August 14, 2015

Today I am coming back to posting five things that have been happening lately as part of the High Five for Friday link up and while I am weeks behind on this I thought I would give you a recap of some BIG things that have happened recently.

1). This past Sunday I was opening up one of my daughters drawers and in the process the diamond from my engagement ring flew off after getting wedged between the drawers. It took me forever to find it, but with much prayer I finally found it behind the drawers in the corner. Thank God!

2). We spent last week vacationing in Williamsburg, VA and got to visit the pool everyday at our resort, Jamestown and even the beach, (see post here on our trip).

IMG_2473

3). We finally got another vehicle before vacation (in Gods perfect timing too), a 2004 Chryster Pacifica SUV with seating for 6 (because people wonder how an SUV can seat 6) but this one can.

4). I can’t believe school is starting up soon so some other bloggers and myself did a blog hop titled “Count Me In for School to Begin” and my topic was on “3+ ways to show love to your kids in school.” You can check out that post here.
showkidsloveinschool

5). Finally, this one was too good to pass up, but I got a picture of my Elizabeth yesterday and while I was taking the picture Nevaeh said “hey mom you can put this on your blog!” so that is what I am doing. Isn’t this the cutest! Excuse her hair, she just came out of the bath haha.

3 + Ways to show love to your kids in school + Count Me In for School to Begin blog hop

August 12, 2015

showkidsloveinschool

Today I am participating in a blog hop with several other mommas or lifestyle bloggers as we highlight topics of returning back to school and we titled this series “Count Me in For School to Begin.” Be sure to check out all the bloggers who are participating below and see what topics they have on school starting back up this month.

I was originally going to do a “Back to School Outfits collage” post but felt led all of a sudden to instead indulge you on a few ways we have shown our Nevaeh we love her while she is in school. Below is a list of things (with some images) of what we have done for her since preschool. (she is about to go in 1st grade). I also included some tips for how to make boys feel special in school as well.

1).Write a note: Take some time and write a message on a napkin, piece of paper or lunch bag encouraging your child for the day. It could be an “I Love you” or scripture verse.

IMG_2413

2).Daddies (and mommies) come to school and give your little girl a rose (or flower): When I was in high school there was a particular teenage girl whose mother brought her flowers during lunch hour, I told my hubby this and he now loves to take Nevaeh flowers and sit with her and her friends at lunch since Nevaeh doesn’t get to see daddy as much as he works alot.
IMG_2416Daddies (or mommies) come to school and give your little boy “boy toys”: Come to school bearing a few gifts, like cars, balls or even stickers. My hubby remembers his mom bringing him a kids meal from McDonalds for lunch with kids meal toys (check your childs school policy though on bringing in outside lunches).
IMG_2419

3). Give Ice Cream money when it is ice cream day: On Fridays it is ice cream day for Nevaeh so we pack her 50 cents for ice cream in an envelope.
IMG_2418Other ways to show your child you love and support them in school:

  • Help your child collect Box Tops
  • Help your child with homework at home
  • Come to special events or activities (I went to Nevaehs mommy and student “Mothers Day” breakfast in her class and loved it.
  • Give your child money to shop the school store
  • Go with your child to Book Fairs and pick out books with them to buy or add to their wishlist and then later consider buying what they want.
  • Attend “Parent Teacher Conferences” and “Back to School Nights”

(While I have not done these yet, I would love too).

  • Volunteer in their class or with special grade events
  • Go on field trips with them
  • Help your child with fundraisers (call family members and friends and pass the fundraiser opportunity on).

Thank you so much for taking the time to read these. I would love to know your tips to making your child feel loved in school or how did you feel loved in school by your family?

How I Styled It link up: Basic Tees

June 10, 2015

How I Style It link up Garay Treasures

Welcome to the second How I Style It monthly link up party. I have the pleasure of hosting alongside several other bloggers to bring you this themed link up and as we have been advertising to you the theme this month is #teedupstyle where you will show us how you style your basic tee shirts and we show you how we style ours. Today I will show you how I styled mine and then I hope you will link up any recent post containing how you styled your tees.

I can’t get enough of my tees. I currently only own a white, black and light pastel pink that I wear over and over and with EVERYTHING!  Today I am styling my pink tee half tucked into my flared distressed jeans, with sandals, layered necklaces and sun hat. This is a rather basic look but the distressed flared denim pants bring an unexpected twist to the outfit, giving off a boho vibe on it’s own.

IMG_2122

Sorry ahead of time for the awful glares in these photos, but my hubby turned the flash on since there were awful shadows under trees in already bright sunny lighting.

IMG_2123IMG_2125

I believe this outfit makes quite a statement. Either that or my poses suggest another me from another time, sassy with a touch of somberness. What do you think?

How I Styled It Link Up: Maxi Dress/Skirt

How I Style It link up Garay Treasures

Welcome to the second How I Style It monthly link up party. I have the pleasure of hosting alongside several other bloggers to bring you this themed link up and as we have been advertising to you the theme this month is #maxedoutmaxi where you will show us how you style your maxi dresses or skirts and we show you how we style ours. Today I will show you how I styled mine and then I hope you will link up any recent post containing how you styled maxi dresses or skirts.

IMG_1448

I choose to style my cobalt blue skirt with a graphic tee that displays “Fashion Reinvented.” Since the tee is a rather bold statement with the skirt color I kept the accessories minimum by adding a thin gold long cross necklace I got a few months back from H&M and my recent purchased black flip flops from Target.

IMG_1445

I wore this outfit to a Birthday party my hubby and I put together for our three toddlers (as their Birthdays are weeks apart) and I just loved how comfortable this outfit was to move around in for such an event (pictures coming Thursday).

Now it is your turn to show off how you style a maxi skirt or dress below.

Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me #14 Link Up & Thank you Giveaway

December 9, 2014

Hello everyone and thank you for coming by and checking out todays featured 5 bloggers from last week and for linking up. I had so much fun reading the posts from last week and want to welcome back a few followers who took a blogging break such as Maria and Samantha– welcome back ladies I have missed you girls and I am so glad you came by and linked up as well.

To be real here guys I wanted to let you know that I myself will be taking a blogger break for the month of January to sort of recharge, get my life organized and focused on other things for a bit (like being an intentional mommy, spending more time with God) and or plan for future fun blog posts. We all need a break don’t we?  Until then there are still many more fun posts ahead and a fun giveaway going on today.

I recently gained over 500 followers on Instagram, and over 220 on bloglovin and will be celebrating a year of blogging in January and with Christmas coming along I wanted to give some items away as a “Thank You” for following and as a celebration of blogging a year and as my Christmas gift from me to one of you.

giveaway500

Now on to todays featured five and link up.

Fashion:

Maria of @notfancyjustlife.BlogSpot.com linked up a post of instagram outfits from her instagram (here) and made up a post mentioning how fun it has been for her to remix her closet while she was on a blogging break as she felt that she didn’t have an image to live up to with needing to buy the newest trends (I am right with you girl, I know the struggle). I don’t know about you but blogging has been one of the hardest things to commit to and not want what someone else has or is wearing so I appreciate Maria mentioning this as I realize I am not alone. Aren’t her outfits just cute in this post here?

IMG_1823-690x920

Susan of @charminglucy.com linked up her Liebster Award post (which I was honored to have been nominated on) but that is not why I choose her link, instead I choose it for how real and vulnerable she was with some past frustrations and current joys. I have enjoyed getting to know Susan and can’t wait to show you what the two of us (and Melissa) have been working up to be on the blog soon. You can meet and get to know Susan more through her award post here.

IMG_3473

Debbie of @fashionfairydust.BlogSpot.com linked up a hilarious story about a wolf spider (I think about her story when I get in the shower now and both smile and cringe) and I couldn’t help but love her outfit color palette, red, grey and pink, hello feminine and lovely. If you want a good laugh or smile I HIGHLY suggest her witty posts and fun outfits. You can read this post here.

DIY Tutorial:

sugar scrubs 3

Stephanie of @positivelystephanie.BlogSpot.com linked up a tutorial on how to create a sugar scrub. I liked her idea of giving these easy make scrubs as gifts to others and her girls girlfriends for Christmas. In the past I can remember getting homemade scrubs such as this and loving it on my hands and feet. You can view the original post here.

DecemberRecipe14

Amy of @amyfashionblog52.blogspot.de linked up a yummy recipe for Pineapple Chicken that I felt was so simple and good looking that I felt for sure I could easily make some night as my kids need some more variety in their meals. I have yet to try this recipe I admit, but I can’t wait to try it. You can view this recipe here.

Sisters & Thanksgiving

November 27, 2014

Last night I was honored to host a second year of thanksgiving dinner for some of my family members whom I won’t be eating with on actual Thanksgiving day (like today) due to going to my husbands family get together today instead. Everything turned out perfectly except the Turkey (which we forgot to thaw days in advance) first timer- no judging! Maybe next year we will know better!

DSC01790

My lovely three sisters and I enjoyed a photo session, full of selfies, outfit shots and just pure sisterly love and goofiness. We all had to share this lovely tartan Zara blanket scarf of course. (You can view me styling this scarf here and here).

DSC01791

So today I leave you with some thanksgiving shots of some fun girliness. Tonight my three sisters and I hit up the malls for some deals, but until then time with family is a must.

What are you and your family doing for Thanksgiving?
