Sneaking into it & Date day

April 4, 2016

My husband and I had a much needed date day yesterday (Sunday). We headed down town and ate at a little tavern and then we got some coffee. Next we headed to a popular rooftop garden to take pictures and enjoy our coffees and the greenery, view and fountains on this particular top. Then we noticed all the “Bride to Be” pink sashes on several young women.

Stepping onto the elevator with a “Bride to Be” and her assuming fiance we noticed a sign on the elevator buttons “Rooftop closed to Public, Open for blah blah Bridal Convention” oops my hubby and I said. Then hubby said “Let’s sneak in, we can pretend to be a part of the convention.” I pointed to the girl and her guy and said “Uh I don’t think that will work they have necklaces on showing they are part of the convention.” Hubby: “oh ok, but we might can still sneak in.” All the while I am thinking “yeah right.”

We got to the rooftop and there were Volunteer like bouncers at the elevator entrance and tables for signing in. Right away the hubby got the idea that this wasn’t going to work so down the elevator we went. No rooftop and no sneaking in. (I know you are just as disappointed that I led you to this point with no sneaking in, but I sure got your attention right?).

While I watched all the “young” brides to be and their friends or boyfriends walk around I realized just how much life had changed since my “Bride to Be” days. Life is definitely full and sometimes I miss the days where it was just my hubby and I and the countless dates a week, but in the end I wouldn’t trade it all for the world. I love my kids, being a mom, having our own house to fit the kids and more.

Seeing the “Brides to Be” walking around made me appreciate my youth and dating days but it also made me appreciate everything I have and all that my hubby and I have endured to get to where we are today and for that I thank God.

Proverbs 5:18- “May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.”

Glad you got some alone time with the hubby. In this season where we are longing for a child, I am trying to soak up the time I have alone with my husband now. I know it won’t be a forever thing.
