My Personal Style Identified & Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me link up

June 23, 2015

Over the weekend I was browsing some blog posts and came across this one from Grace ( and in her post she challenged me to think about my personal style as hers was determined as more elegant and sophisticated. While I would have considered my fashion style to be that of jeans and a t-shirt or workout pants and a tank top I wanted to consider the times I actually do get dolled and dressed up (especially on the weekends, shopping dates, dates with the hubby and friends and to church). I asked my hubby what he thought my fashion sense or style was and he said “classy, casual but pretty.” I appreciated his response as I wanted to start from somewhere and do some research.

I did some pinning and even took a quiz on personal style here and came out labeled “classy prep” haha! Actually I think that fits. I like to dress like Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, and Ashley Olsen as far as modern day star style icons go and Audrey Hepburn with Marilyn Monroe in tow.

In the above collage picture you will see some looks that make me feel confident. I think it is the heels, low-key jewelry and neutral colors. These looks do not define my look everyday, but by golly if I worked an administrative job you betcha I would dress up more like this. These looks show fearlessness, confidence, love for my body and curves and more.

I am so glad Grace inspired me to this little challenge as I want this blog to begin to show the me that is confident in an outfit that fits rather than an outfit thrown together.

What is your personal style? Are you bohemian? Romantic? Classy? Sporty? Flirty? Sophisticated? Something else?

I can’t thank many of you enough as last Tuesdays link up started out as a piece of cake, then disaster hit and most of the post got deleted as I edited one thing in the post. BOOM an earth quake to the blog began and everything went wrong so I had to do a whole other post to host the link up and then all was good again/  It was actually the largest link up yet, 75 links. So thank you for your support! I also have several co-hosts lined up in the next few weeks as well so that is exciting! Want to co-host? e-mail me at

Now on to the link up:

Here are todays featured bloggers: (There are more than 5 featured today as there was a common theme or same item posted for several bloggers that I couldn’t pass up, so welcome to a unique featured blogger version for today).

My lovely blogging friends Tiffany, Becky and Jill  collaborated (along with another blogger Courtney) to style this lovely “Love More, Hate Less” tee from the company Kentucky Brewed Company, the idea is to buy one tee and you get another one free but to give to a friend or someone you love to “Love More.” What a cool idea and these three fashionistas linked up their collaborative looks. Click on their names to see how they styled theres.

I loved Monicas and Sandys transformer dresses and actually want one of my own now. Click on their names to find out how they styled theirs differently.

If you don’t know Grace then you are missing out. I met Grace as she began blogging not but four months ago and boy how her blog has sure taken off since then. I am inspired by her beautiful outfits, take on fashion and America (since coming from China) to her lovely blog photos. While Grace and I have collaborated in the past a few times and she links up each week I just felt that she deserves some recognition for being a newbie fashion blogger that is hitting the big fashion blogger charts and quick! Read this particular post here.

Liz captures many good points and tips on how to not only be a successful fashion blogger, but how to be a better blogger period. She had me thinking about a mission statement for my blog and while I don’t have one yet I would love to know your opinion as to what you like about my blog or what you think should be included in my mission statement? I would love to have one up this week if possible.

Grace’s blog is great and she really does get you thinking. I need to think deeper about what my personal style really is, too. I am reading Lessons From Madame Chic: The Top 20 Things I Learned While Living in Paris right now and it has had me think more about how I dress and do my makeup, too! I really like that convertible dress! Wow!

    Great post!

  • Sam June 23, 2015 at 8:35 am

Sorry to learn you had a little glitch in your link up last week, but it’s great you got it sorted out – and awesome you ended up with 75 linking up! It’s been a while since I’ve linked up due to my lagging posts. I’m linking up this week though :).

I don’t know how I would describe my style right now. For the past several months I’ve seemed to be in a state of evolving tastes. No matter what style label I’d give myself, an outfit that is both comfortable and polished is what I gravitate towards.

  • Shea June 23, 2015 at 9:15 am

I think it’s hard to nail down my personal style, but I gravitate towards classic pieces done in a modern way. I had some seasons of loving neutrals, but for the most part I’m also drawn to more colorful looks. Love the blogs you featured too–Sandy’s convertible dress is awesome and I’ll have to check out Grace’s blog!

  • Debbie Stinedurf June 23, 2015 at 9:37 am

I think your style has really evolved since you started out and you’re looking gorgeous. I’d have to say my style is pretty eclectic and depends on what mood I’m in.

  • Megan June 23, 2015 at 10:03 am

I love your style! It’s feminine, classic and pretty! Mine is a mix of everything: boho, edgy, preppy, simple, modern, whatever. It changes everyday!

  • Patricia Luiza June 23, 2015 at 11:18 am

You have a very chic and classy style! As for me I am not sure where I fit in but if I could describe my style in two words they’d be girly and florals!

Hmmm, I don’t know what I am, exactly. Probably equal doses boho + edgy. πŸ™‚

I would have to say that my style is fun, classy, and trendy. My style is pretty unique! I like classy things that are timeless, but I’m also big on what is trending, and I like to wear fun patterns and colors. Very multifaceted, if I say so myself. Thanks for hosting the link-up!

  • Amy's Fashion Blog June 23, 2015 at 4:17 pm

I always say my style is girly casual. My work style is just plain boring to me. I took the quiz and got retro. Which I can see that for half of my style.

Thank you so much for featuring my clothing swap party post from last week! I’m glad you have found it useful and hope your church one is successful! In the comments section of the post a couple of people spoke about doing them as a fundraiser which might be an option for your church group as well!

  • Tina Bradley June 23, 2015 at 7:06 pm

What a lovely collection of style, Rachel–definitely elegant and chic! I think I’m sometimes vintage classic, sometimes boho, sometimes sporty. I think my style is definitely eclectic. πŸ™‚ Thanks for hosting another lovely link up! T.

Thank you so much for the feature! So many great features this week. I’m off to check some out. I am also going to take the style profile quiz. I’d like to narrow my closet a little and focus on what I really love.
