Paisley bohemian off shoulder dress & Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me link up

July 21, 2015

Sometimes I like to add some boho to my outfits and what better way than with this paisley off the shoulder dress from Oakleigh Rose Style Boutique that I won in a giveaway from Logan awhile back. At first I didn’t love this dress on me but by the second time wearing it and actually adding some boho or earthy elements and a french twist up do inspired by my friend Becky (see her tutorial here and her feature in the link up below) I felt more confident and in love.

My husband actually thought this dress was short enough for him to be labeled as sexy, and the off the shoulder part of the dress added to his love of this dress. (He is a sucker for boho looks here and there).

When I half heartedly thanked and criticized him for his comment of the dress looking sexy on me he said “Rachel, it is ok to be sexy. Sometimes you are too overly modest and need to be OK with feeling and dressing sexy as much as you can.” I tried to argue and say that was hard with four kids, but on and on he went about how it is ok to show some short dresses and shoulders haha! I guess he won!

Now I can’t wait to style this dress with some ankle booties and cardigan for the fall. What do you think?

Have you tried adding some bohemian to your summer wardrobe? What have you tried?

Now on to the featured five from last week and link up:

I enjoyed reading how Susan (of charminglucy) spent some time in  NYC with her daughter Lucy for a Rockette Intensive training session and just loved reading about the things they saw and enjoyed together. What I think I love most is the mother/daughter love these two have for each other. Susan is just crazy in love with Lucy and named her blog after her. Be sure to check out the post here.

I always love getting fresh ideas on hair styles and loved my friend Beckys new hair style tutorial here. I can’t wait to try it.

Christie did a post on how to style statement pieces and she was even kind enough to add comments from other fashion bloggers on their takes on statement pieces. I love how Christie was inspired by other fashion bloggers to compile a post to help all of us out. Plus I just love her statement look here.

The next two posts were very helpful for me as I have been looking for pattern mixing looks on pinterest several times in the week for inspiration and little did I know a few linkers included their take on pattern mixing that I just loved:

This dress looks great on you! Yes, it’s totally hard to be “sexy” when you’re the Mama – but keep in mind that aside from clothes – confidence is the sexiest thing you can put on! I can’t wait to see you style this for the fall – some solid opaque tights in a colour from the print maybe? Ankle booties, fringe? The possibilities!

I love your dress! I don’t think it is too short (barely above the knee) or too revealing. I totally think it’s okay for a mom and wife to look and feel sexy in an appropriate way and you are definitely doing that. I think your hubby is right. good for you!
