Layering pieces & Dress for Success link up

December 9, 2015

Happy Wednesday everyone. Yesterday two other bloggers and I did a “power outfit” challenge to help in the Shop Style and bloggers give to Dress for Success organization that helps disadvantaged women get jobs and training in life and the support they need. Right now if you shop with a ShopStyle Collective Blogger (such as myself) then 10% of my sales will go towards Dress for Success and ShopStyle will match that 10% contribution. Dollar for Dollar of the 10% sales. AWESOME!

Check out some items I choose below that help empower me: layers.

To have some fun with this, the two other bloggers and I came up with outfits that make us feel confident and or people that have empowered us. We also came up with a nice link up for you to link up your “power outfits” or ones that make you feel confident, so please join us below.

Here is mine (from yesterdays post):

This “power outfit” in these photos is nothing fancy but it is a look I strive to do more of and that is adding layers. I feel confident wearing clothing or accessories (scarves, sweaters, statement jewelry, etc) that I can layer to give an extra touch or polish to an outfit. As a stay-at-home mom (and blogger of Garay Treasures) it can be hard to get motivated to dress beyond a tee and jeans.  Adding that third layer makes me feel confident, put together, pretty and motivated towards a successful day.

I graduated college with a degree in International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies, and spent many years teaching and traveling overseas. I am not back stateside and created my blog as an outlet when I moved back from Korea. I currently am loving workwear and I find myself to be the most comfortable and confident in it. I love finding clothes that fit me well and hug my curves. Anything that fits me well makes me feel confident and allows me to be my best self. I believe that feeling confident comes from learning to find clothing that fits you well and embracing the body that you have!

Meet Liz from Style Wich

Not too long ago, I was a corporate attorney but my full time job at the moment is stay-at-home mom so my “power outfit” lately consists of comfortable pieces that still look polished like a structured coat, jeans that fit like a dream and high heels that I can run around in! I love colors and quirky details so I always throw in some fun accessories to complete the look and express my mood. I believe feeling confident comes naturally when you wear clothing that you love and feel comfortable in.

What outfits make you feel confident and successful?

You know what’s funny, Rachel? It’s not what I wear that makes me feel confident, it’s actually my shoes. The higher the heel, the more empowered it makes me feel. As though I can take on the world. Oh and a bright red lipstick works wonders too 🙂 xoxo

I love layering in the winter with different outerwear. I agree with an earlier commenter that shoes make a difference for me too.
