Every year since having children I have loved nothing more than to print out photos to frame or have custom made as a Birthday or Christmas treat to myself. Since last Wednesday was my Birthday I was contacted just in time by Inkdot to help with this Birthday treat.
Would you believe that it took me hours and days of thought to determine what photo I wanted printed on metal, courtesy of Inkdot. I can be a perfectionist so I wanted something meaningful and thought of choosing one with my hubby and the children but then I didn’t think it was fair to leave me out (being selfish here) so back to the drawing board. Then I remembered this photo taken at an ice cream shop and while the kids don’t look perfect, this is how I want to remember them by, not posing or cute outfits and backgrounds but in the everyday life doing what kiddos do (eating ice cream, messy faces, not sitting still).
I choose the metal print option for my photo where the photo I uploaded would be printed on a glossy white metal surface. I choose the 8×8 size and easy peasy it came to my house within a matter of 3-4 days. I liked it and found that it went well on a black wall in our kitchen. The frame came with a screw for mounting and so my husband set to work to put it up. He loved how a screw was provided but had a bit of trouble finding the stud but once he did it was easy putting the screw in and hanging.
I recently got the wood star decor and hanging chalk board at Target to add around the metal frame. I wanted my theme to be “summer” so the star went well for “4th of July” and Memorial Day coming and the sign obviously says “you are something (sweet) resembling an ice cream cone.” My seven year old helped me with the cone and ice cream and she likes to change the board often, so I find it neat that this little space has become interactive as well as decorative and I can’t wait to add more to this little space.
Two things to note: I did change the lighting and contrast in the picture before uploading it to Inkdot and as a result I think the picture came out a bit grainy, so I don’t know if this has any negative effects on how it was made but rather how I changed the original picture. I also want to let you know that personally I think this custom photo printed on metal frame is a bit on the pricer side then I care to pay for but I am glad I got to try out my first printed on metal picture and for some people this price range is perfect. If you are looking to get a gift for someone or just want a good quality metal, wood printed frame or just prints then I recommend Inkdot.
