Inexpensive Beauty Gift: DIY Lip Scrub

November 15, 2016

Every winter my lips suffer from the intense cold. I have tried so many lip balms, Vaseline and nothing helps soothe and smoothe my lips. My hands are the same way. At least two instances I have been given DIY hand scrubs that help make my skin feel soft and smooth and pampered and it gave me the idea to try making my own DIY Lip Scrub. With the holidays coming and gifts being bought (or made) I thought I would share this inexpensive beauty DIY (Do it yourself) as a possible gift.

What you need:

-Little tin or glass jars (I got my metal tins in a pack of 4 from the Dollar Tree),but you can use baby food jars too.

-Honey (I had packets of honey in my cabinet)

-Brown sugar or sugar

-Something to stir with

That’s it. Most of these you should have in your kitchen cabinet.

First I took about 3 tsp’s of brown sugar and added it to the container.

Next I added 1 packet of honey or equal the amount of brown sugar you put in.

Stir. I used a appetizer toothpick (fork) to stir.

Then you are ready to apply. Apply and scrub on your lips with your finger or liquid lip wand applicator. Let it sit about a minute.

Take a damp wash cloth and get the sticky scrub off your lips. Now they feel smooth.

Apply your favorite lip gloss or balm afterward. I know you all know that I sell LipSense, but since trying LipSense I haven’t gone back to other lip balms or lipsticks. This stuff is the bomb and they do well to keep my lips moist and smooth, even more after using this scrub I made. You can apply the DIY scrub weekly or as needed.

Now the lips are HAPPY! This is seriously SO easy and inexpensive as you can tell from the ingredients and steps above. For all your beauty or make up loving friends you should give this a try.

Have you tried a DIY lip balm before?

This sort of scrub is also amazing for elbows, and knees, and feet πŸ™‚ have you ever tried, Rachel? My skin is always smooth as a baby’s bottom after a sugar scrub πŸ™‚

On the blog today, I’m tackling something literally “borrowed from the boys”, i.e., an item of clothing I took from my husband’s wardrobe. Come on over and see how I (and four other women of all ages) styled pieces we, ahem, borrowed from the men in our lives.

I would be eating that! What a combination ! I bet this works well though Rachel and gets the job done. After exfoliating your lips Rachel, try Elizabeth arden eight hour cream. It’s a little pricey, but a tube last me two years. I have never had chapped lips since I found this years ago x
