Happy Monday everyone and thank you for stopping by today as I have a special post for you and one I hope will be helpful as I try to answer the one question many of you asked me after this post and that is “How did you get so many followers on Bloglovin?”
First of all, what is bloglovin? Some of you who may be starting a blog or have a new one may be wondering this exact question. Bloglovin is simply a feed that shows you all the blogs that you follow so you can sort of go to one place to find the blog you want to read instead of trying to remember the name of a blog and entering it into your search engine each time. Bloglovin also has a free app you can download so that you can read it from your tablet or phone.
The blogs that you may like need to also be registered with bloglovin or you won’t be able to find the blog within the search blogs button within Bloglovin itself. It is a free service or feed to join and this has been the BIGGEST way for me thus far to find and keep up with my favorite and newly discovered blogs, plus brands and companies like to see how many followers you have when you decide to monetize your blog or do product reviews as this will help them determine the number of people that might view their product on your blog.
How did I get so many followers on my Bloglovin? Well below are some tips that worked for me, but everyone has their own tips and plan as to how they get their followers.
1). It takes time! That’s right it takes time and isn’t an overnight BOOM you have 1,000 plus (unless of course you were a celebrity or famous model then maybe). Point is, I don’t even have 1,000 plus but am near it by 300 something more followers and I have not even blogged for 2 years yet.
2). Follow blogs from the beginning whether you read them all the time or not. There are millions of blogs out there and many I started following because Bloglovin does a “follow some blogs to get started…” prompt when I first signed up and I liked some of the blogs I was seeing so I hit Follow to several and several followed me back. I still read several of them too, while others aren’t blogging anymore. Sadly though, there are also people who follow you and leave comments like, “I followed you, now please follow me,” or “if you follow me I will follow back.” sometimes this works and other times it doesn’t as they probably leave the same comment on everyone’s blog and don’t keep tabs on you and this doesn’t mean they will be back by your blog.
3). Create blogging “friendships.” Are there bloggers you enjoy e-mailing and collaborating with? Does that person trust your blog and believe in your impact and are they inspired by you and vice versa do they do the same with you? Do you have commonalities such as living in the same state, enjoy cooking, fashion, parenthood, etc, the list goes on? If you answered “yes” to the following questions then follow them and most likely they will follow back
. *This is a popular one with me, quite personally and like number 1, it takes time to develop those “friendships.”
4). Host or co-host link up parties. This is a great way to get your blog name and social media links out there as people begin to see how serious you take blogging and putting yourself “out there.” I host a weekly link up that is growing by leaps and bounds every Tuesday starting at 12am EST called “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” and I like to give other bloggers a chance to co-host with me every Tuesday. I am also one of five hosts for a monthly link up the second Wednesday of each month called “How I Style It” themed fashion link up. I also have co-hosted countless link ups in the past as well.
*While this way doesn’t gain you followers on Bloglovin right away it eventually does on other social medias and then some on Bloglovin.
5). Host or co-host giveaways. Many people have mixed feelings about this as many people who enter giveaways are giveaway accounts or people out for free stuff. I know I am guilty of doing this here and there but lately I haven’t had the time for it like I used to and I would rather follow blogs I know I will read often not just for the win, if that makes sense.
*But this has been a great way for me to gain followers. You can collaborate with shops, other bloggers or even just host a giveaway alone. I hosted my 30th Birthday giveaway here and had 14 other bloggers on board with me and it was a success. I would love to coordinate another blogger giveaway, so if you are interested you can just e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I also know that Oh, My Gosh Beck is a popular one and I have contributed to her giveaways and gained SEVERAL new followers (go here to sign up to contribute to her giveaways).
6). Be consistent with posting! Don’t just post here and there. Run your blog like a business and have set days or times you post so people know you are serious. For example, I post five days a week, Monday through Friday with posts going live at midnight EST. If your Bloglovin only shows one post one week and then none the next two weeks and then one another week it throws followers off.
7). Have good content that will keep people coming back. Do you use high quality photos? Are your followers excited to read your posts? Do they understand the message you are conveying? Do you respond back to your comments or take the time to answer their questions somehow? AND a huge biggie for me, are they positive most of the time? I have known many bloggers who complain every post or who don’t respond back to my comments (like all the time) and those are red flags for an unfollow.
8). Guest post for other bloggers when you can. Do you know a blogger going on maternity leave or vacation? It doesn’t hurt to ask if they are seeking guest posters. This is another way to put yourself and social media links such as Bloglovin out there.
9). Have social media buttons available and in sight on your blog (mine is on the right sidebar) or you can place your social media links within your posts. A lot of people (I know I did it too) will mention at the bottom of their post, “Don’t forget to follow my blog by Bloglovin or Facebook,” and this sometimes reminds people that “hey there is an option to follow this person.” While I used this in the past I know I need to continue it as it may have gained me a few followers versus people hunting down my social media bar.
10). Join blogging facebook communities or other Blogger Forums and put yourself out there, like an introduction about yourself and links. Most blogging facebook groups allow you to leave links from a post you want shared or visited and you could find a few new bloggers this way and start following them. I belong to three facebook groups, one is by invitation only called Blogging Mastermind, and the other two (Blog Love & Blog Passion Project), and I have gotten a few new bloglovin followers as well as other social media followers this way and met some very creative bloggers. Many of them have even collaborated with me in the past.
11). Set goals! I set a goal back in January 2015 to get 500 followers on bloglovin before the end of 2015 and it isn’t even the end of 2015 and I have 630. I contribute this to meeting new bloggers, my link-up(s) and giveaways done in the past. My new goal is to have 1,000 followers on Bloglovin before 2016 and I am almost there.
Colossians 3:17 reads: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him.”
I hope you found this information helpful and that I answered the questions asked about my following. If you are not yet following me on bloglovin you can do so here. If you would like to tweet or pin this message I would LOVE if you could do so as I would love to know how you and your bloglovin following has grown.
