How I Style It: May Flowers

May 4, 2016

Welcome to How I Style It. This is a themed monthly blog hop that a few other bloggers and I have put together to show you how we style different outfits for different themes.  Today’s theme is how to style florals (for May flowers, since the last theme was April showers).  We all know the April Showers Bring May Flowers right? The rain keeps coming too right into May.

I love the promises of new life, hence lots of it in nature through Spring and Summer. Flowers are so pretty to see in bloom and are a joy even in our clothes. Whoever came up with floral prints in the first place was a genius as it is one print that definitely lifts up spirits and promises renewal. When I think of florals as a renewal I am reminded of the promises of God and how much he enjoys us and wants us to enjoy what he has created.

Today I paired a chambray top, white flats and a Kendra Scott necklace with an older boho floral dress I got thrifting years ago. I don’t wear this dress often because it requires a nude body suit underneath (because it is sheer) and the top sleeves are a bit tight but it really is a lovely dress.

Outfit details: Floral dress, similar//Necklace: Kendra Scott, same//Flats: via thredUp (use code BHX21 to get 21% off your first order at, doesn’t last long)//Chambray top: similar, similar

I hate when I have to wear slips under dresses, especially when summer comes around. Although, I can see why you would wanna wear it, it looks nice on you and it so cute!

Florals really are a great print.. And I love when they are on an unexpected background like black or brown. So rich and beautiful! I love the vibe of your whole outfit!
