Every Christmas for six years now (or really anytime we happen to go to my husbands grandmothers house) we always end up with a “store” so to speak of products or foods and candy that grandma and grandpa bought with coupons or on clearance at stores such as CVS or Wal-greens and pass on to the children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren. These products are normally found in several baskets in grandma and grandpa’s den for dibs. These products in the baskets have become our favorite things to receive above all the gifts because we know these items are everyday practical items, varying from laundry detergent, dish detergent, sponges and much more.
Some of the items I have received over the first few years have remained a constant item that I receive in my “store” of goodies and buy time and time again when I go to the grocery store myself and so today I am sharing with you five essential products I use or indulge in almost daily. These products are very appropriate for the fall and upcoming weather as well.
Growing up with curly and damaged frizzy hair I never found my “niche” for hair shampoos and conditioners. I grew up with some brands that no matter how cheap or even expensive they were they never seemed to work for my hair, but rather against it, until six years ago when I first started using Garnier Fructis, Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner Sleek & Shine. These products are just hands down the icing on the cake and while I have tried other hair products along with these, I find this is what I keep going back to and request from the little “store” basket at grandma’s house.
Two other items that keep dryness away in the colder months are the Eucerin Healing Soothing Repair Creme and Chap Stick. Both of these are gold as the weather gets colder. The Chapstick soothes the lips and leaves a fresh coat that stays for quite awhile.
My tip though with the Eucerin cream is that it is so heavy and thick that you only need a small pinch rather than lathering in it. Rub the cream gently over hands or dry areas of the body and the dryness and itchiness is eased. This cream has been a lifesaver for my youngest son’s eczema as well (when he lets me apply any cream that is).
My last and final product to love is hot bags of teas, especially in the fall and winter months as tea just soothes those minor colds in the cold seasons and appeals to the sense of smell. Add some lemon juice or lemon slices and the warm teas are heavenly. I don’t believe I enjoyed tea as much until receiving several boxes from his grandma’s store (like this Celestial Seasonings Apple Tea).
Like I said above I can’t get enough of these products and thank grandma for her generosity and allowing me to fall in love with these products. I can’t wait to highlight some more loves from Grandma’s “Store” and may do so for the upcoming holidays.
All of the following items mentioned are just a few of my favorite items and while this isn’t a sponsored post I wanted to highlight some items in my life that I have come to appreciate through Grandmas “store” of goods.
