I don’t post DIY projects often but it does feel good to get some done and share my process and results. Like this particular DIY jewelry project, the project I am showing you today also took me along time from the time I got the materials to the point of creating. Today I am sharing how I made a monogrammed “G” onto burlap that I eventually framed.
What you need to get started:
- Burlap sheet (I got a pack of 3 Laminated Burlap Sheets size 8.5 in-11inches. from Walmart months ago).
- Sponge brush (or any brush will do)
- X-acto knife
- Paint to use (mine was Acrylic glossy black paint)
- Piece of paper with monogrammed letter pre-traced/or use store bought stencils
After you have all your materials, begin by cutting out with an x-acto knife your monogrammed letter. Mine was a “G” for my last name.
Next paint over top of your cutout letter so that the paint gets on the burlap. Hold paper or stencil down with tape or hand to avoid lifting of paper or stencil to early leaving possible smudges as mine made a few.
Take off the paper or stencil and allow for the paint to dry on the burlap. Because I used so much paint in a few areas it took a good hour for the whole burlap to dry.
Next you are ready to frame. I had and 8×10 frame, and because my sheet of burlap was 8.5 x 11 I had to cut some strips off to get it to fit in the frame.
Voila, a new piece of decor that fits our home to the very last name.
Have you ever made a monogrammed decor? What did you make?
