Day to Night look: Buffalo Plaid

March 16, 2016

Happy Monday! Today’s post topic is something new for me; although I know lots of other bloggers have done it before and that is sharing with you my day to night look while styling buffalo plaid.

Day

As a mom of four children I LIVE in leggings or exercise pants while at home and running small errands; However, there are moments where even a quick story-time at the library or Target warrant a little more dressing up, hence a bit of lipstick or doing my hair differently such as this side braid attempt.

When I have a t-shirt on during my day time look sometimes adding extra coverings or layers makes the look more put together, hence the addition of my new buffalo plaid button up top from a new site I love called NewChic (see how I styled a shirt dress and kimono from New Chic this week). I am late to the buffalo plaid bandwagon, but then again I am a mom and shopping (unless done online with great sales) rarely happens. With that I must say I am proud to own my first buffalo plaid shirt and I LOVE it.

For this particular top I made sure to order a few sizes larger than what I wear as this site (NewChic) ships from China and I worried the sizes would be off from here in the United States so I didn’t want to go with my size (typically L or XL) and receive something that was more medium or small here in the USA. I selected the US 14 size which converts to 2XL for Asia and the top fit perfectly and layers just as I like it too, without being tight nor too big. Perfect for lots of movement with the children and looking nice while at it.

Night

For the night time or date look I decided to dress up a little black dress with the same buffalo plaid and black accessories while adding a touch of light red into my lip color.

My go- to date night look is little black dresses ( see LBD examples here, and here), so I was thrilled to be able to pull this look off wearing the same buffalo plaid top.

Plus the hubby prefers skirts and dresses over leggings any day for a date night, but what man wouldn’t (insert wink face).

Love the night time look. I usually think of buffalo plaid as a ‘daytime’ print so I love seeing it dressed up a bit
