Happy Monday! How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was packed full of family time. We even hosted our last meal of the week at our house as my husbands aunt and cousins came in, which was enjoyable. I am just thankful life is getting back to normal.

As you may remember I took several days off from blogging since I had found myself in a blogging rut and burnout. While this space has been a great place for creative and social outlet and more I needed some time to step back and be the girl on the side lines. This meant that I actually took the time to revisit bloggers I haven’t been catching up with or just read other blogs more and comment (something I had been neglecting while trying to run this space). However I learned so much that actually got me SUPER excited for this blog.

What did I learn? That I need other bloggers input and friendship. I actually found myself going to my once frequently visited Blogger Mastermind Facebook groups and interacting. I e-mailed a few bloggers back and forth and while I started reading other blogs again I learned that some other bloggers had actually called blogging off for good or for awhile. Loads of other bloggers commented or e-mailed me letting me know they considered taking a break as well because they were burned out.

What did I also learn? Many of you may have read in the past that this blog has not only been a great form of creative and social outlets but it allows me to make some extra money for my family. This comes from several factors and I would love to share these in an upcoming post. However, I am happy to announce that in the past two months I have had growth in this area like never before and can’t wait for the future (as I would love to make this a full time job when kiddos are all in school).

Lastly, I learned a little bit about myself and what I embrace and don’t. While taking my break I really began to pray and just ask God how to mold me. I even told him about my self-confidence issues (especially past ones) and change these to where I can be victorious in Him. Because of past failures it is hard to beat myself up about things, but through Christ alone I have victory and life.

I learned to embrace my style. I enjoyed taking a style quiz from my friend Liz’s blog post and actually found that my style had changed over the past few months. Let me explain below. Β I learned that my style is not only casual and eclectic but there are also touches of romantic and bohemian. Β It would make sense as I gravitate towards more flared, floppy hats, comfortable wear and pretty dresses when I can. Some bloggers that influence and inspire me with similar styles daily include Amy of Straight A Style, Shannon of Upbeatsoles, Liz of Lizzie in Lace, Becky of Bybmg, Denise of Fashion Love Letters, Carrie of Curly Craftymom and many more. I also need to give a shout out to my sister Annalise who not only has similar tastes but we get to raid each others closets almost monthly (thanks sis!).

In conclusion, I learned so much and can’t wait to get back into blogging weekly. My new posting schedule will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, unless there is further notice. As blogging four or five days a week before was too much for me. So with that I look forward to tomorrows post as I host “Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me” again and Wednesday “How I Style It link up, with the style theme being Christmas Chic. I hope you will join both link ups and until then I can’t wait to see your posts.

If you had to title a blog post after someone whose style reflects your own what name would it be? What is your style and theirs? What have you learned while blogging?

I am so glad you are feeling inspired and re-energized! That is so important. I often find that when I am stressed about my blog, it is because it has gotten out of balance in my life and I need to spend some time reflecting with the Lord about it all. Congrats on your recent growth. Thank you so much for mentioning my blog! I am so glad you find it helpful. I totally agree that visiting other blogs is often my greatest source of fashion inspiration, and the friendships are so important.

I loved reading this post and your thoughts on your personal style, blogging friends and more, after your break. I can tell you learned a lot, feel renew and energized. Blogging has taught me a ton too and also following many bloggers from all over the world and with all kinds of different style aesthetics, has somewhat changed and evolved my own sense of style too. I too love and daily get inspired by Shannon and Amy Ann. I must say in the last couple of months I have really loved all your Bohemian nods with your outfits.

Looking forward to what is ahead here at Garay Treasures.

Have a great week! <3 Ada.

You look adorable. I’m attempting to update my look from a lot of ruffles and lace to a more streamlined style. I’m in my 50’s and I feel I have moved away from some some of the feminine fashions. I still enjoy them, just not on me!

I have taken breaks from blogging a couple times. Sometimes you just want to do life for a bit without having to be creative everyday haha. It’s so refreshing once you come back to it!

I’m glad you’re feeling inspired again, Rachel! Sometimes it just takes a little break to do that. Most people don’t realize just how tough blogging can be. It is so time consuming but I honestly can’t picture my life without it. I’ve learned that I always need to be working on something to feel like I’m moving forward. I lose my way when I feel like I’m not going anywhere. But that aside if I’m ever falling behind or losing my enthusiasm for blogging, I just look back at how much work and effort I’ve put into it and how far I’ve come. I can’t throw in the towel now! That’s just so much time wasted.

Welcome back! I’m looking forward to your blogging income post. I need some help with that!

Rachel, this is such a beautiful post. Blogging burnout is very real and I have felt the effects of it as well. It’s very hard to keep up with “work hours” and blogging…putting kids into the mix is even more crazy! Sometimes it’s hard to be inspired and you get overwhelmed, but just keep pushing through. You are doing a great job and I really enjoy visiting your blog and getting to know you. I, too, had to pray about this, but God will lead us in the right direction….not for us, but for Him and his plan. It’s not about growth, but rather about influence. I am SO happy the quiz helped you pinpoint your style! I have to re-evaluate ever year or so. And you’re right! We do have the same style! Mine is Romantic and Eclectic with a touch of Boho. πŸ™‚ Hope you have a great day!

I’ve been in a similar situation several times throughout the lifespan of my blog (if you look at my archives, you’ll instantly see some blatant gaps) and simply could not work. I couldn’t bear to even look at my dashboard let alone write anything. It was like being in a state of depression and it wasn’t fun. Each bout took longer and longer to recover from but today, I’m extremely glad to have gone through all that. I’m in a better position to write. Liberated would be a better expression πŸ™‚ like you, Rachel, I often go through blogs to seek inspiration, and to remind myself that I am living the dream of doing what I love for a living, and that is to write. I can’t imagine giving that up for anything in the world xoxo
