YAY for Friday and the first day of May! Wow time is flying this year. Welcome to another Budget Babes Friday where Ada, Maria and I style for under $75 (hence Budget Babes). Every Friday for two more weeks we will be styling outfits with a theme that goes along with the trends of spring but we are going to show you how you don’t have to break the bank doing so. Today’s theme is styling black and white. If you missed last Fridays spring bags theme then you can check it out here, loafers the week before that here and the pastels theme here.
I think I am the only one sporting peep toe heels our of all these looks, but I love how Ada and Maria went with skirts and or dress and I stuck to white denim jeans. I am loving Ada’s windowpane dress and Maria’s pops of white accessories. This is what is so fun about collaborating with other bloggers on a theme. There is simply not one wrong or right way to go about wearing black or white or any trend for that matter.
I will be honest in saying this is what I had wanted to wear this past Sunday to church. In all honesty I had nursery duty and didn’t want to be around babies in these heels and white pants so this is my outfit for church another day. I did enjoy putting this outfit together for the sake of these pictures and Budget Babes theme. My only problem was that our babies were asleep for nap time so my hubby and I went out into our street and shot these images. I am sorry in advance for the terrible background as it was either take a picture in front of a few houses or in the middle of the road on trash day with lots of trash cans on the curbs. Keeping it real here people, we had some serious thinking on a background and settled for these houses. Blogger problems happen.
I actually was inspired to wear this outfit from a pin from Rachel Parcell of pinkpeonies.com that you can view here. Rachel has great style and she was one of the first fashionistas I followed (I am sure she is the first for everyone though). My black and white outfit is a pinspiration from hers.
As a budget babe sporting black and white, let’s see if I stayed under $75 for this outfit.
white pants: via Marshalls about $15 (similar)
Black under tee: $1 from JC Penny (had a coupon and it was already super cheap) similar here.
Black pleated button up sleeveless vest shirt: $8? from TJ Maxx, similar here.
Purse: Merona via Target $20, old similar here.
Earrings: c/o Rocksbox $0 but Kendra Scott (use the code garaytreasuresxoxo for your free one month subscription to Rocksbox) (exact earrings here)
Necklace: c/o Rocksbox $0 Perry Street brand (use the code garaytreasuresxoxo for your free one month subscription to Rocksbox) similar here.
Glasses: $6 from Target (recently on clearance). (love these)
My total spent on this outfit: $52, not bad and probably my most expensive outfit posted for Budget Babes yet. So as you can see I don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to look just like Rachel Parcells look, and while I am sure most of her outfit was a “c/o” from the big brands a girl can still be chic and look just as nice on a budget for under or right at $75.
