Blogging is a Lifestyle

Blogging is a Lifestyle. Can I get an amen? Ever since I started blogging 2 in a half years ago I never dreamed I would come this far. I have loved writing consistently weekly, meeting new bloggers and forming friendships, to working with brands and writing on a diversity of topics (mainly on fashion, faith, blogging tips with the occasional parenting, DIY to recipes). I have enjoyed it so much and below are my reasons why I started my blog to how it has become a big part of my lifestyle.

I thank God for this journey and new found hobby in my life. I started this blog as a frustrated mom. I was lonely. Many people I knew helped me when my twins were tiny infants (last pregnancy). After the twins got to being 3 months old I noticed a drop in help. My husband got a new job that kept him away from home in the evenings and my evenings became lonely and without anyone.

I began following fashion blogs and was intrigued by the art of it all. I was a collector and subscriber of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar through my young adulthood and I loved how fashion blogging seemed to fit my need for a magazine and company void. I took the plunge and got my own blog started. I think I put out two blog posts before I got my first comment and from someone I didn’t know. That was my “this is worth it” moment. I knew I didn’t want to just put blog posts out there to NOT get read, because I had so much to share, learn, share.

I have loved and appreciated all of my readers that have come by and commented or even messaged me to let me know how a post of mine helped them, encouraged them and inspired them. I have had readers recreate a project I did, a style I came up with to implementing strategies to earn income blogging. All of these are what makes blogging fun and worth continuing, to inspire others and be inspired myself.

Blogging isn’t easy.  I do have 4 kids and a husband and sometimes I feel like I am either over committed to blogging or over committed to parenting and sometimes the struggle is real finding a good balance. In these times I find that I need to take a few days off and not post or even a week off.

Blogging has been a great outlet, community and more. I am so glad I started this journey and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. I am so thankful to God before all for how He has blessed me with using my talents for him.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

*I get a lot of bloggers and people wanting to know where I got this tee and you can find it here from the shop of Laina Turner. Go up two sizes as the tees run smaller then size indicated.  I got it courtesy of a giveaway credit I won several months back and am glad to finally style it.

It really is hard to find a good balance with blogging and the other needs of life. It is so interesting to read how you got started! I started mine as a mommy blog (7 years ago!) when my other mom friends were doing blogs. Then, I started reading other blogs such as DIY blogs, etc. and got into gearing my blog towards that. Fashion became a later part of my blog when I started to do a few fashion posts and had other blog friends invite me to do 30 Day Challenges and finally a link up. Its amazing how it all plays out.

Lovely story Rachel. I admire you, four kids and still have time to blog? And the way you involve your kids and husband in your blog is such fun! I am glad I ,,met” you !

Ugh it is sooo hard to balance it all. That’s why I’ve had to take a break from it because I just don’t know how to do it all! I hate doing things half-hearted and I feel like it always shows when someone does so it make sit even more hard to balance!

Amen sister!!! Yes it’s a lifestyle, and not a so easy one either! I’m glad blogging helped you out, I was lonely too when I started blogging, I just moved half way around the world and away from my family for the first time. I met so many amazing souls through blogging and I keep getting inspired by them all!

    Have an amazing week Rachel!

It is amazing to read stories like yours, Rachel. I admire you that you have such a great hobby with the big family. As we know how time consuming it could be. I started my blog as a kind of diary. We moved to another side of the world, I thought it could be nice to have our memories on the one place. There was another impulse or need too. I changed from working mum to stay-at-home mum. And I would like to keep me learning new things like before. And blogging is giving me this. I’m learning new things. I’m meeting new people. Blogging is really lifestyle. I’m glad that I’m part of it.

Thank you to linking up with My Red Carpet.

Blogging is a lifestyle! What a cute shirt. It’s so fun and rewarding to watch other bloggers grow and change over time. I’ve really enjoyed watching your journey, Rachel! But gosh, is it ever hard to balance it all. I love it or else I wouldn’t even try, you know?

You definitely get an amen from me! Blogging really is a lifestyle. At first I felt silly saying that I was a fashion blogger. But now I have so fully embraced it with all of its ups and downs, struggles and benefits, time spent and friends made. It is well worth the journey to me, for sure! Really great post, Rachel!

Thanks so much for linking up with me On the Edge of the Week! I hope to see you again next week. Have a marvelous weekend!
