Apple Butter making & Giveaway

December 4, 2014

Each year my hubby and the kids and I attend an annual “Apple Butter making day” where my husbands family members- uncles, aunts, cousins, parents, grandparents and other extended family members and friends get together to make homemade country apple butter- big pot, cut up apples, cinnamon and all. It doesn’t get more southern than that. We went this past Saturday and had a blast minus the cold weather out.

DSC01880Isn’t that painted hay bale just so patriotic and cool?!

Hot homemade apple cider while sitting in a barn with hay and kids playing everywhere was nice as well.

Some pictures of the process and kids (hubby and cousin as well):

Jarring is a process everyone contributes to helping with.

Wrestle matches with the men go on of course

Each year is a blast and we get to take home plenty of jars to eat and last us for months. In the past these have made great Christmas gifts to give to neighbors and co-workers.

Have you ever made apple butter or homemade jams?
