Happy Halloween my friends (or family if you are reading)! What are your plans tonight? We are taking our kids around the neighborhood for Trick-or-Treat. We have had our fill of fall festivals and Halloween celebrations over the weekend and it feels like we will never recover but it’s fun nonetheless. For today’s outfit I am bringing you another skull scarf as my last post “2 Ways to Style a Skull Scarf” was such a fun inspiration for many that read it.
I had a hard time coming up with the right outfit for this scarf as the bright pink and bold print can be really hard to style. I knew I wanted to wear it Saturday for a local farmer’s market and shop Halloween celebration but the inspiration didn’t come til last minute. I had tried on several articles of clothing with the scarf and actually looked myself in the mirror and felt guilty. It was the kind of guilt where I wondered what in the world I was doing. I began to doubt the whole notion of trying to come up with an outfit for the scarf in the first place and secondly, guilt over everything I put my hand too. I began having feelings of guilt over parenting, this blog, and a list of things but I made myself snap out of it and look away from the empty girl in the mirror to getting on my bed in prayer.
In moments when there are feelings of guilt, despair, confusion, frustration it is always helpful to recognize the problem and give it to God in prayer. When I did just that I pressed on, feeding that girl in the mirror again with thoughts of love, peace, perseverance and more. I didn’t give up on finding the outfit I wanted and came up with this gray tee with a skirt overlay.
You read that right this is not a dress but rather a very stretchable flowy skirt that I brought up to my waist to present itself as one outfit. Then on top of that I layered on some jewelry and added on my skull scarf as a blanket covering, much like I did with my other skull scarf here.
The outfit was VERY comfortable and the weather was PERFECT for this light weight scarf the particular time worn. The trick or treat wore the babies out and we visited a local “grave marker” shop for these photos, so technically this isn’t a “real” graveyard but I love the whole look anyway.
Thanks for coming by today and I hope you enjoy your Halloween festivities today. Let me know what you are going to do.
