8-things-to-do-to-spring-clean-bathroom

Spring cleaning is in full session in our household with each room getting cleaned one at a time. With four kids it can be hard to get motivated to clean during those down times such as nap or bedtime but I have found that creating a list of tasks to do and cross off have been very helpful and perhaps you do too. Before any list making I first needed to assess which room to clean first. We only have one bathroom in our house so I figured this was a great start and so my list making began as I looked through the bathroom to write down what needed to get cleaned, replaced or better organized. Below is the list of what I knew needed to get done.

List of Bathroom Spring Cleaning To-do’s (yours may look similar or have more or less depending on what you need to do to Spring Clean your bathroom, but you can use a sample one I made for you to print off here):
– replace shower curtain liner
– remove window blinds and clean window and any mildew/cobwebs or dust
– replace a light bulb in a light fixture
– clean out drawers and organize or throw away items no longer used or needed
– clean toilet
– clean the countertops and floors, cobwebs off wall corners
– add a scent warmer to electrical outlet and get a scented spray

Once I made my list above I drove to Target to gather some of my supplies needed to accomplish the above tasks. I made my way to the Household Supplies/ All Purposes aisle and found Lysol Power and Free Cleaner and Lysol Click Gels for instant hands-free toilet cleaning.

Once I gathered these products I went to the aisle behind the Lysol products and found Air Wick® Life Scents™ Room Mist and Air Wick® Scented Oil Warmer.

The final products to buy included a shower curtain liner and lightbulbs and then I went to check out and was surprised to get a printed coupon with my receipt that contained the following information:Buy 3, get 1 free on the Lysol product.  Offer valid 3/27 – 5/14/16 (just thought you might like to know) and then I set home to start my bathroom spring cleaning.

*Before I show you the order in which I cleaned or organized I must mention that while I would love to show you the whole bathroom in a before and after I cannot as we are still in the process of remodeling the bathroom as our drawers, mirror and light fixtures are new, but we have to replace the tub and tile and one wall is needing painting behind the door to the bathroom.

Here is the order in which I cleaned the bathroom:

1). Cleaning the toilet. I used paper towels and the Lysol Power and Free Bathroom Cleaner to clean on the seat and under and around edges as well as toilet handle and lid. I even sprayed the Lysol Power and Free Bathroom Cleaner on the floor around the toilet and wiped with paper towels. Then to cover cleaning inside the toilet I installed the Lysol Click Gel for hands free cleaning that would clean the toilet with each flush for up to a week of use.

2). Clean and wipe up any stains on the floor, tub and countertops using Lysol Power and Free Bathroom Cleaner and a pumice stone or paper towels. Clean and sanitize the soap dispenser and tooth brush holder and sink knobs and spout.

3). I used Lysol Power and Free Bathroom Cleaner to clean out cobwebs and mildew behind the blinds in the window.

4). Replaced the shower liner curtain with the new one I bought.

5). My husband was tall enough to replace a light bulb in a light fixture.

6). The drawers and cabinets had products thrown all over the place. I found some products to throw away based on expiration date or based on little use or empty and organized what I kept. I even removed products and cleaned inside the drawers and on the shelves.

7). I took a broom and got cobwebs that were out of reach removed.

8). The final things I made sure to do was spray the bathroom with Air Wick® Life Scents™ Room Mist for a fast acting way to eliminate odor and then plug into the wall outlet a Air Wick® Scented Oil Warmer and the scent I got was Lavender as this is our favorite bathroom smell.

*I added some branches from our Azalea bush placed in water for an added décor and freshness. Overall our bathroom looks clean and smells nice and it felt good to cross things off the list. At the end all I could think was That’s one room down.

What great tips! I definitely need to replace my shower curtain liner!

I always feel better when I change the shower curtain liner, although I usually buy one that I can wash several times before it needs to be completely replaced. That toilet cleaner looks really neat, I am going to check it out next time I am at the store. I think it’d make my toilet cleaner a little easier (and it is my least favorite part of bathroom cleaning). Thanks for sharing! Oh, and your shower curtain is too cute!

What a thorough clean! I feel like the bathroom makes such a huge difference when cleaned, but neither me nor my husband ever truly want to do it. I know it gets pushed off more than it should. Your post just might give me the motivation to actually go get it done!!:)
