For several weeks now I have wanted to take some pictures of the three men in my life (minus our Boston Terrier, Frank) wearing plaid but trying to find the opportunity to do so has been no picnic until a week ago.
The day was perfect for a family outing to Target and to a local walking trail where these photos were shot. If you met me you would learn that taking unplanned photos is rough, but my husband is a natural at it and rarely likes taking posed photos as he dislikes the “path from natural.” While I took photos of the boys he kept reminding me that it was “ok” not to have a planned pose so I took probably 20+ pictures but am showing you my favorites as these describe all my men to the T. Busy, determined, carefree and funny.
There are so many things my boys like to do to be silly, active and carefree and below is a list of ways our boys (or yours) can do just that while playing outside:
- Go for walks or hikes
- Let them run and stomp in rain puddles
- Bring out bubbles and or water hoses
- Gather leaf piles if its fall and let them run and jump in them
- Snow ball fights in the winter
- Encourage climbing of trees with adult supervision
- Wrestle with daddy
- Practive throwing or skipping rocks with nature
- Play and climb stairways, they could even scoot their bottoms down steps as this was fun for me growing up
Aside from outdoorsy stuff, Why plaid? Because my men have too many plaid shirts in their drawers and it was the easiest thing to pull together.
It was only appropriate that pictures were taken of the girls on this fine evening so Elizabeth and I “posed” for a few in pinks. (Neveah was away with some friends for the day, so you won’t see her included).
Overall the day was grand and I am so thankful for time with my kids and husband and cannot wait for spring weather to stay. We cannot wait to do more outdoors here soon. I wouldn’t trade this lovely weather or them for the world.
